2-  Promotes bone growth and as a result Bones start gaining length and ultimately leads to
height increase.
3-  Helps body to produce adequate amount of amino acids that work as a food supplement for
the pituitary, which further results in promotion of height growth by natural process.
4-  Improves metabolism, which further leads to lean body and as a result Protein is used to
build, grow and develop the body.
5- Strengthens nervous system.
6- Builds and tones muscular mass by promoting new cell and tissue growth.
7- Maintains cholesterol levels and is a good tonic for heart.
8- Helps in patients of Insomnia.
9- Slower down’s aging process.
10-Reduces extra fat.
In addition to the above mentioned facts, it also improves suppleness of spine and increases the density and thickness of Vertebral disks and a result elongation of spine takes place. This elongated spine makes one grow taller.

This height grow works on following principles,
A) Growth hormone – As we all know that growth hormone plays key role in any ones height growth. In normal course an Individual’s pituitary gland releases, about 7/10th of a milligram of growth hormone in 24 hour. Where as half of this amount is released within the first hour of sleep and rest of the hormone is released during:
1- Increased body temperature
2- Physical exercise
3- Specific amino acid ingestion
4- Decreased blood glucose levels
Sleep is the major stimulator of growth hormone, the intake of Fit Height Course just before sleep promotes sound sleep and thus helps in promotion of Growth hormone during first hour of natural sound sleep. This adequate amount of Growth hormone converts protein into new energy and enables body growth. Protein is used to build height growth, new tissue formation etc.

After sound sleep, physical exercise is next in the line. In fact the intensity of Growth hormones peaks higher during exercise as compared to sleep. Several exercises influence the magnitude and intensity of growth hormone released during workout. As we all know that amino acids plays key role in the production of growth hormone and adequate supply of amino acids to the pituitary gland leads to maximum production of Growth hormone. Amino acids are naturally produced within the body but there are some food supplements that also helps body to maximize production of amino acids that can work as food supplement to the pituitary gland. This natural supply of amino acids to the pituitary leads to natural production of Growth hormone.  Consuming Fit Height Course helps body to produce natural amino acids to the maximum and thus indirectly promotes pituitary gland to produce Growth hormones. This ingredient rich dietary supplement also promotes Nervous system, Improves Metabolism, Builds tissues and helps in the process of Bone growth.
B) Growth takes place in the long bones of the body and periosteum is mainly responsible for their growth. Periosteum is a cartilaginous membrane containing the blood vessels and provides nutrients to the bones. The periosteum surrounds the diathesis (starting of bone) of a long bone and the diathesis is separated from the epiphysis (end of a bone) by a line known as epiphysis line. During the formation of a bone, calcium salts are deposited with in the diathesis and calcification is spread towards the ends of the bone i.e. epiphysis. Fit Height course promotes Periosteum and indirectly plays vital role in bone formation.

  1. C) The Human spinal column is consisted of 33 separate bone segments known as vertebrae These Vertebrae are held together by tough fibrous tissue’s which are known as ligaments. The lower 9 are “fused” into two immovable bones, the sacrum and the coccyx, which forms the back of the pelvis. The remaining 24 vertebrae never get “fused” and thus provide flexibility and motion.. These 24 vertebrae includes 7 cervical (neck), 12 thoracic (back of chest), and 5 lumbar. Cartilage disks are located between these 24 vertebrae, and serve to cushion the spinal column from shock. The thickness of the disks determines the length of the spinal column and directly affects one’s current height. There are total 25 disks in all and their combined length accounts one’s overall height. Since these disks are “non-fusible” cartilages, they can constantly grow thicker under certain situations.

How Human Height Increase happens?

Our body height increases a very complex machine. We have many systems, which control our functions. One such system height increase our “gland system” or Endocrine System. The tiny pituitary gland is divided into two parts: the anterior lobe and the posterior lobe. The anterior lobe regulates the activity of the thyroid, adrenals, and reproductive glands. The anterior lobe produces Growth Hormone , which stimulates the growth of bone and other body tissues and plays a role in the body’s handling of nutrients and minerals.

Growth hormone (GH) or somatotropin (STH) is a hormone which stimulates growth and cell reproduction in humans and other animals. It is a 191-amino acid, single chain polypeptide hormone which is synthesised, stored, and secreted by the somatotroph cells within the lateral wings of the anterior pituitary gland. Height growth in human being is the best known effect of GH action, and appears to be stimulated by at least two mechanisms.GH directly stimulates division and multiplication of chondrocytes of cartilage. These are the primary cells in the growing ends (epiphyses) of the long bones (arms, legs, digits). GH also stimulates production of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), a hormone homologous to proinsulin. The liver is a major target organ of GH for this process, and is the principal site of IGF-1 production. IGF-1 has growth-stimulating effects on a wide variety of tissues.Additional IGF-1 is generated within target tissues, making it apparently both an endocrine and an autocrine/paracrine hormone. IGF-1 will also have stimulatory effects on osteoblast and chondrocyte activity to promote bone growth. Fit Height Course will boost your natural growth by improving your HGH level and by regenerating your cartilages, discs and bones. Fit Height course Height Booster to help your body to grow taller much faster and also will improve your overall posture. Short Stature

Short stature refers to any person who is significantly below the average height for a person of the same age and sex specifically, the shortest 3 – 5% of the population. The term often refers to children or adolescents who are significantly below the average height of their peers.

Short stature is not necessarily a symptom or sign of a health problem. Two relatively short but healthy parents may have an entirely healthy child who is in the shortest 5%. On the other hand, short stature may be a symptom caused by a medical condition. Since many of these conditions are treatable, the person should be examined by a health care provider. The rate of growth over time is important in determining the cause.

How Height Grows?

In children the various hormones (as growth hormone, Thyroid Hormone, sex hormones, adrenal hormone androstenidione, 17-oh Progesterone, DHEAS, LH, FSH, plays the role in height increase. Also many minerals, nutrients also required for good height growth. These hormones, minerals & micronutrients lead to increased concentration of IGF-1 & some other hormones. These hormones then act on the various sensors (called receptors) in the growth plate of bone.

After the interaction of hormones & receptors certain changes occurs in the functioning of cells of growth plate of long bones tissue so that growth plate cells starts growing in thickness & size & more & more new bone starts depositing in the bone thus growth plate size gradually starts increasing. Simultaneously it also increases the blood supply to growth plate tissue leading to more availability of growth factors to the growth plate tissue resulting in faster growth of growth plate tissue. These hormones & growth factors are in high concentration during peak of secondary sexual characters development i.e. puberty leading to persistent stimulation of growth plate for next two to three years i.e. up to completion of sexual development. Thus in children in two to three years full height growth occurs.

Causes of short height are:

  • Hormone Disorder: Growth hormone deficiency, thyroid hormone deficiency, cortisol excess.
  • Mineral Disorder: Vitamin D, Zinc, Calcium, Iron deficiency, osteomalacia, rickets, hereditary (genetic).
  • Rickets (Vitamin D deficiency or hypophosphataemic skeletal dysplasia: (Achondroplasia, Hypochondroplasia) Chromosomal defect (as Downs’s Syndrome, Turner Syndrome).
  • Systemic Diseases: CNS, Cardiac diseases, Renal tubular acidosis, kidney failure & Chronic Systemic diseases.
  • Chronic Renal disease: CRF, RTA.
  • Hematologic disease: Anemia d/t Thallasemia major sickel cell anemia ,Uncontrolled Diabetes.
  • Cardiac disease: Cynotic heart disease, CHF d/t any cause.
  • Familial short stature (genetic), Constitutional delayed growth with or without delayed puberty.
  • Malnutrition, anemia, Under nutrition (of calorie, protein, vitamin-D & Zinc)
  • Dysmorphic syndromes (Primordial dwarf): Russel Silver Syndrome, Noonan Syndrome ,Praderwilli Syndrome, Pseudohypoparathyroidism, LMB Synd, Progeria, Intrauterine growth retardation.
  • Psycho-social Dwarfism
  • Malabsorption: Celiac diseases, chron’s disease & Chronic Giardiasis.
  • Inborn errors of Metabolism (Mucopolysacharidosis, Galactosemia)
  • CNS Disease: Mental retardation
  • Idiopathic Short Stature

Home Care

No particular care is indicated for short stature. If short stature is associated with a treatable medical condition, then the appropriate prescribed care should be undertaken.

When to Contact a Medical Professional

If your child appears to be significantly shorter than the majority of children his or her age (or if the rate of growth has decreased or stopped), call your health care provider. The health care provider will perform a physical examination. The child’s height, weight, and arm and leg lengths will be measured. If the short stature appears to be a sign of some medical abnormality, further tests including laboratory studies and x-rays may be needed. To learn more about possible causes, the health care provider will ask questions, such as:

Family History

  • How tall are the parents and grandparents?
  • How tall are the brothers or sisters?
  • Are there other relatives that are less than average height?
  • Have any family members been diagnosed with a disorder associated with short stature?
  • At what age did the parents start puberty?

Child’s History

  • What was the child’s birth like?
  • How is the child’s diet?
  • Has the child begun to show signs of puberty?
  • At what age did puberty signs begin?
  • Has the child always been on the small side of the growth charts?
  • Was the child growing normally and then the rate of growth began to slow?
  • What other symptoms are also present?

If the short stature appears to run in the family or is due to delayed growth, a bone age x-ray will be done. This test determines if the bone age is appropriate for the patient’s age. For instance, if an 8-year- old child is only as tall as a 6 year old, the bone age x-ray would suggest that growth was merely delayed and that future height should be normal. Girls with short stature should have a cerotype done to check for certain genetic diseases such as Turner syndrome.

Other tests may include:

  • Complete blood count
  • Electrolyte levels

Although your health care provider keeps records of height and weight from routine examinations, you may find it helpful to keep your own records. You may want to bring these records to your health care provider’s attention if the growth seems slow or the child seems small.

Approach to Diagnosis of Short Stature

Detailed History: First we take detail history about diet, past illness & other relevant history to reach on probable cause for shortness of height. Birth history (breech delivery, preterm), Height, Weight at birth, Early developmental milestones, Scholastic performance, Dietary intake (in present & past)
Any systemic disease (in present & past), History suggestive of Hypothyroidism, Cushing’s disease or syndrome, Growth hormone deficiency, History of steroid intake Psycho-social history, Family history of Short height & delayed growth & puberty (in parents, 1st & 2nd degree relatives) Old height & weight records.
Physical Examination: We look for anemia, signs of malnutrition, Rickets, Neck for goiter, then we do Systemic examination- Organomegaly & CVS, Respiratory system, Central Nervous system is examined for any cause in CNS & Intellect, Fundus for Papilloedema &optic-atrophy. We also Look for signs of Growth hormone deficiency, Hypothyroidism, for congenital anomalies in face, neck, hand, chest, leg & body for primordial dwarf, turner syndrome, Measure Weight, calculate weight age, calculate relationship of weight age to height age.
If weight for height is less (weight. age less than height. age) i.e. child is underweight the chance of Nutritional short height or malabsorption as cause is more likely. If weight for height is more (i.e. weight. age > height. age) then chances of endocrine i.e. hormone disorder as cause for short height is more likely.

Investigation & Diagnosis

After detail history & examination whatever hormone deficiency is suspected is investigated.

For this we do following tests:

  1. Hormone test: as growth hormones, thyroid (Free T4, Free T3, TSH), FSH, LH, testosterone, estradiol, IGF-1, IGFBP-3 etc.
  2. Bio-chemical test: (Hb., ESR, GBP, Alkaline.Phosphatase, Calcium, Phosphorus, Urea, creatinine, Urine Protein, M/E ,Fasting urinary ph , Serum bicarbonate,Serum Potassium ,Serum protein, SGPT Stool Fat , Tests to diagnose other systemic diseases x-ray Skull, Bone age (skeletal age) test.
  3. Short height due to Growth hormone deficiency: Growth hormone deficiency is one of the common causes of short height. Growth hormone formation becomes less in body due to inability of growth hormone secreting glands to make GH hormone from birth due to defect in gland functioning itself which is called congenital growth hormone deficiency. Then other cause are those cases in which growth hormone deficiency occurs later in life due to some damage to growth hormone forming gland later in life such as due to idiopathic growth hormone deficiency , tumour or trauma. G.H. ineffectiveness, hypopituitarism, Isolated growth hormone deficiency, Biologically inactive growth hormone, acquired idiopathic growth hormone deficiency, psychosocial deprivation syndrome.
  4. Clinical Feature: During infancy or childhood child may suffer with recurring irritability due to low blood sugar, Prolonged jaundice, small genital, cryptorchidism in male, During Child hood children with growth hormone deficiency present with short height, Childish look, obesity with prominent abdominal adiposity, prominent forehead, lower face is small, normal intelligence, normally active, and normal body proportions & no other disease that would cause growth failure, sexual development is also often delayed, wrinkling of face or body, fatigue (Weakness), depression & decreased body strength, bone weakness etc. Diagnosis of short height due to growth hormone deficiency is made by low GH, IGF-1, IGF-BP-3.

What is Growth?

A child’s physical growth refers to the increases in height and weight and other body changes that occur as a child matures. Hair grows; teeth come in, come out, and come in again; and eventually puberty hits. It’s all part of the growth process.

What’s Normal?

The first year of an infant’s life is a time of astonishing change. During this time, a baby will grow rapidly. On average, babies grow 10 inches (25 centimeters) in length while tripling their birth weights by their first birthday.

Given all the growth that occurs in the first year of life, new parents may be surprised when their child doesn’t continue to grow through the roof. But no child continues the rate of growth experienced during infancy. After age 1, a baby’s growth in length slows considerably, and by 2 years, growth in height usually continues at a fairly steady rate of approximately 2 1/2 inches (6 centimeters) per year until adolescence. No child grows at a perfectly steady rate throughout this period of childhood, however. Weeks or months of slightly slower growth alternate with mini “growth spurts” in normal children. Kids actually tend to grow a bit faster in the spring than during other times of the year! A major growth spurt occurs at the time of puberty. Usually kids enter puberty between age 8 to 13 years in girls and 10 to 15 years in boys. Puberty lasts about 2 to 5 years. This growth spurt is associated with sexual development, which includes the appearance of pubic and underarm hair, the growth and development of sex organs, and in girls, the onset of menstruation. By the time girls reach age 15 and boys reach age 16 or 17, the growth associated with puberty will have ended for most teens and they will have reached physical maturity.

At the Doctor’s Office

Beginning in infancy, a child will visit a doctor for regular checkups. At each of these visits, the doctor will record the child’s height and weight on a growth chart. This chart shows the doctor and parents how the child’s height and weight compare to that of other children the same age. This valuable tool can help your child’s doctor determine whether your child is growing at an appropriate rate or whether there might be any problems.

What Can You Do?

There are several things you can do to help ensure that your child grows and develops normally. Make sure he or she gets the following, which are critical to your child’s overall health and wellness:
enough rest – Sleep patterns vary by age and individual child, but most kids need an average of 10 to 12 hours of sleep per night. Sleep gives growing bodies the rest they need to continue growing properly.
proper nutrition – A balanced diet full of essential vitamins and minerals will help your child reach his or her full growth potential.

adequate exercise – Because obesity is a growing problem in kids, parents should make sure that their children exercise regularly, as well as receive proper nutrition. Bicycling, hiking, in-line skating, sports, or any enjoyable activity that will motivate your kid to get moving will promote good health and fitness and help your child maintain a healthy weight.

Talking to Your Child About Growth

Children differ in growth and development during childhood – just like adults, some kids are taller or shorter. Generally, girls hit puberty earlier than boys, although some girls might lag behind their peers in breast development and the onset of menstruation. All of this is usually completely normal.

Try to avoid comparing growth among siblings or other children. Drawing attention to a child’s height, for example, will only make that child feel self-conscious about his or her size. Encourage your child to accept his or her own growth and development. Explain that some children grow and develop at different rates – and late bloomers generally will catch up eventually. Children have many questions about growth, from why their teeth fall out to difficult or potentially embarrassing topics like breast development or perspiration. Answer questions honestly and even initiate conversations about growth to help your child understand the many changes he or she is facing. This will help your child accept the changes positively. If you’re uncomfortable discussing these topics or avoid the subjects altogether, your child may interpret that to mean there’s something shameful about the changes he or she is going through and may be less likely to talk to you about any concerns.

Kids who are short often face teasing by peers and may need help coping. You can help a short child by supporting his or her self-esteem. For example, although it might be difficult for a small boy to make the football team, emphasizing alternatives, such as soccer or tennis, may make him feel better about himself and what he can do. A small teen might have concerns about dating, driving, and participating in sports. It’s important to try to understand your child’s feelings and to keep the lines of communication open. Another thing you can do to boost your child’s mood is to encourage activities that don’t focus on height or weight. If You Suspect a Problem

Parents sometimes become concerned about their child’s growth and development, but it can be reassuring to know that most children who are short or delayed in development are healthy and normal. For example, shorter parents tend to have shorter children and not all kids develop at the same rate.

If you’re concerned about your child’s growth, the first step is to consult your child’s doctor, who can thoroughly evaluate your child and your family history and, if necessary, order some basic lab tests to see if there may be a medical condition affecting growth. The doctor may choose to monitor your child’s growth more frequently on a growth chart.

Bone Growth

Bones grow in length at the epiphyseal plate by a process that is similar to endochondral ossification. The cartilage in the region of the epiphyseal plate next to the epiphysis continues to grow by mitosis. The chondrocytes, in the region next to the diaphysis, age and degenerate. Osteoblasts move in and ossify the matrix to form bone. This process continues throughout childhood and the adolescent years until the cartilage growth slows and finally stops. When cartilage growth ceases, usually in the early twenties, the epiphyseal plate completely ossifies so that only a thin epiphyseal line remains and the bones can no longer grow in length. Bone growth is under the influence of growth hormone from the anterior pituitary gland and sex hormones from the ovaries and testes.

Even though bones stop growing in length in early adulthood, they can continue to increase in thickness or diameter throughout life in response to stress from increased muscle activity or to weight. The increase in diameter is called appositional growth. Osteoblasts in the periosteum form compact bone around the external bone surface. At the same time, osteoclasts in the endosteum break down bone on the internal bone surface, around the medullary cavity. These two processes together increase the diameter of the bone and, at the same time, keep the bone from becoming excessively heavy and bulky.

Human Growth Hormone

The first step in our education is to become familiar with some of the terms and definitions used while discussing Human Growth Hormone. Ready? Let’s jump right in…

What is a Hormone?

Hormones are tiny chemical messengers that help our body do different tasks. Hormones are made up of amino acids. Hormones are produced by the endocrine glands and then sent all over the body to stimulate certain activities. For example, Insulin is a well known hormone that helps our body digest food. Our growth, digestion, reproduction and sexual functions are all triggered by hormones.

What is Human Growth Hormone?

Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is the most abundant hormone produced by the pituitary gland (pituitary is one of the endocrine glands). The pituitary gland is located in the center of the brain. HGH is also a very complex hormone. It is made up of 191 amino acids making it fairly large for a hormone. In fact, it is the largest protein created by the Pituitary gland. HGH secretion reaches its peak in the body during adolescence. This makes sense because HGH helps stimulate our body to grow. But, HGH secretion does not stop after adolescence. Our body continue to produce HGH usually in short bursts during deep sleep. Growth Hormone is known to be critical for tissue repair, muscle growth, healing, brain function, physical and mental health, bone strength, energy and metabolism. In short, it is very important to just about every aspect of our life!

What is Recombinant Growth Hormone (GH)?

Recombinant Growth Hormone is GH that is synthesized in the lab. It is a biosynthetic hormone that is identical to human growth hormone, but it is synthesized in the lab. Creating an exact replicate of HGH was not an easy task.

What is IGF-1?

IGF-1 stands for Insulin-like Growth Factor 1. IGF-1 is also known as Somatomedin-C. As important as HGH is, it does not last long in our bloodstream. In just a few short minutes our liver absorbs HGH and converts it into growth factors. IGF-1 is the most important growth factor that is produced. So, IGF-1 is a hormone just like HGH, but it is easier to measure in the body because it stays in our bloodstream longer than HGH. You can think of HGH as the hormone that gets the ball rolling, but IGF-1 does most of the work.

What is a Secretagogue?

A secretagogue (se-krët´ah-gog) is an agent that stimulates secretion. For now that is all you need to know about these agents with a funny name, but as we move on the functions of secretagogues and HGH enhancement will become important.

Physiologic Effects of Growth Hormone

A critical concept in understanding growth hormone activity is that it has two distinct types of effects:

Direct effects are the result of growth hormone binding its receptor on target cells. Fat cells (adipocytes), for example, have growth hormone receptors, and growth hormone stimulates them to break down triglyceride and suppresses their ability to take up and accumulate circulating lipids.

Indirect effects are mediated primarily by a insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), a hormone that is secreted from the liver and other tissues in response to growth hormone. A majority of the growth promoting effects of growth hormone is actually due to IGF-I acting on its target cells.

Effects on Growth

Growth is a very complex process, and requires the coordinated action of several hormones. The major role of growth hormone in stimulating body growth is to stimulate the liver and other tissues to secrete IGF-I. IGF-I stimulates proliferation of chondrocytes (cartilage cells), resulting in bone growth. Growth hormone does seem to have a direct effect on bone growth in stimulating differentiation of chondrocytes. IGF-I also appears to be the key player in muscle growth. It stimulates both the differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts. It also stimulates amino acid uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues.

Control of Growth Hormone Secretion

Production of growth hormone is modulated by many factors, including stress, exercise, nutrition, sleep and growth hormone itself. However, its primary controllers are two hypothalamic hormones and one hormone from the stomach:

Growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) is a hypothalamic peptide that stimulates both the synthesis and secretion of growth hormone.

Somatostatin (SS) is a peptide produced by several tissues in the body, including the hypothalamus. Somatostatin inhibits growth hormone release in response to GHRH and to other stimulatory factors such as low blood glucose concentration.

Ghrelin is a peptide hormone secreted from the stomach. Ghrelin binds to receptors on somatotrophs and potently stimulates secretion of growth hormone.

Growth hormone secretion is also part of a negative feedback loop involving IGF-I. High blood levels of IGF-I lead to decreased secretion of growth hormone not only by directly suppressing the somatotroph, but by stimulating release of somatostatin from the hypothalamus.

Growth hormone also feeds back to inhibit GHRH secretion and probably has a direct (autocrine) inhibitory effect on secretion from the somatotroph.

Integration of all the factors that affect growth hormone synthesis and secretion lead to a pulsatile pattern of release. Basal concentrations of growth hormone in blood are very low. In children and young adults, the most intense period of growth hormone release is shortly after the onset of deep sleep.

Growth hormone deficiency

Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD) is a medical condition in which the body does not produce enough growth hormone (GH). Growth hormone, also called somatotropin, is a polypeptide hormone which stimulates growth and cell reproduction. HGH also refers to human growth hormone but this older abbreviation has begun to develop paradoxical connotations, particularly in relation to the peddling of medically unnecessary GH supplementation (so-called HGH quackery).

Growth hormone deficiency has different effects at different ages. In newborn infants the primary manifestations may be hypoglycemia or micropenis, while in later infancy and childhood, growth failure is more likely. Deficiency in adults is rare, but may feature diminished lean body mass, poor bone density, and a number of physical and psychological symptoms. Psychological symptoms include poor memory, social withdrawal, and depression, while physical symptoms may include loss of strength, stamina, and musculature. Other hormonal or glandular disorders frequently coincide with diminished growth hormone production.

GH deficiency can be congenital or acquired in childhood or adult life. It can be partial or complete. It is usually permanent, but sometimes transient. It may be an isolated deficiency or occur in association with deficiencies of other pituitary hormones.

The term hypopituitarism is often used interchangeably with GH deficiency by endocrinologists but more often denotes GH deficiency plus deficiency of at least one other anterior pituitary hormone. When GH deficiency (usually with other anterior pituitary deficiencies) is associated with posterior pituitary hormone deficiency (usually diabetes insipidus) the condition is termed panhypopituitarism.

Signs and symptoms

In childhood

The incidence of idiopathic GHD in infants is about 1 in every 3800 live births, and rates in older children are rising as more children survive childhood cancers which are treated with radiotherapy, although exact rates are hard to obtain. Severe prenatal deficiency of GH, as occurs in congenital hypopituitarism, has little effect on fetal growth. However, prenatal and congenital deficiency can reduce the size of a male’s penis, especially when gonadotropins are also deficient. Besides micropenis, additional consequences of severe deficiency in the first days of life can include hypoglycemia and exaggerated jaundice (both direct and indirect hyperbilirubinemia). Female infants will lack the microphallus of course but may suffer from hypoglycemia and jaundice.

Even congenital GH deficiency does not usually impair length growth until after the first few months of life. From late in the first year until mid teens, poor growth and/or shortness is the hallmark of childhood GH deficiency. Growth is not as severely affected in GH deficiency as in untreated hypothyroidism, but growth at about half the usual velocity for age is typical. It tends to be accompanied by delayed physical maturation so that bone maturation and puberty may be several years delayed. When severe GH deficiency is present from birth and never treated, adult heights can be as short as 48-58 inches (122-147 cm).

Severe GH deficiency in early childhood also results in slower muscular development, so that gross motor milestones such as standing, walking, and jumping may be delayed. Body composition (i.e., the relative amounts of bone, muscle, and fat) is affected in many children with severe deficiency, so that mild to moderate chubbiness is common (though GH deficiency alone rarely causes severe obesity). Some severely GH-deficient children have recognizable, cherubic facial features characterized by maxillary hypoplasia and forehead prominence (said to resemble a kewpie doll).

Children have sparse hair growth and frontal recession, and pili torti and trichorrhexis nodosa are also sometimes present.

In adulthood

The incidence of genuine adult-onset GHD, normally due to pituitary tumours, is estimated at 10 per million.

Recognised effects include:

·         Increased 5-alpha-reductase

·         Reduced sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG)

·         Reduced muscle mass and strength

·         Baldness in men

·         Reduced bone mass and osteoporosis

·         Reduced quality of life, particularly energy levels

·         Impaired concentration and loss of memory

·         Increased body fat, particularly around the waistline

·         Lipid abnormalities, particularly raised LDL cholesterol

·         Insulin resistance

·         Increased levels of fibrinogen and plasminogen activator inhibitor

·         Cardiac dysfunction, including a thickened intima media

Childhood GHD commonly has no identifiable cause (idiopathic), and adult-onset GHD is commonly due to pituitary tumours and their treatment or to cranial irradiation. A fuller list of causes includes:

·         mutations of specific genes (e.g., GHRHR, GH1)

·         congenital diseases such as Prader-Willi syndrome, Turner syndrome, or short stature homeobox-containing gene (SHOX) deficiency[6]

·         congenital malformations involving the pituitary (e.g., septo-optic dysplasia, posterior pituitary ectopia)

·         chronic renal insufficiency

·         some infants who are small for gestational age

·         intracranial tumors in or near the sella turcica, especially craniopharyngioma

·         damage to the pituitary from radiation therapy to the head (e.g. for leukemia or brain tumors), from surgery, from trauma, or from intracranial disease (e.g. hydrocephalus)

·         autoimmune inflammation (hypophysitis)

·         ischemic or hemorrhagic infarction from low blood pressure (Sheehan syndrome) or hemorrhage pituitary apoplexy

There are a variety of rare diseases which resemble GH deficiency, including the childhood growth failure, facial appearance, delayed bone age, and low IGF levels. However, GH testing elicits normal or high levels of GH in the blood, demonstrating that the problem is not due to a deficiency of GH but rather to a reduced sensitivity to its action. Insensitivity to GH is traditionally termed Laron dwarfism, but over the last 15 years many different types of GH resistance have been identified, primarily involving mutations of the GH binding protein or receptors.

As an adult ages, it is normal for the pituitary to produce diminishing amounts of GH and many other hormones, particularly the sex steroids. Physicians therefore distinguish between the natural reduction in GH levels which comes with age, and the much lower levels of “true” deficiency. Such deficiency almost always has an identifiable cause, with adult-onset GHD without a definable cause (“idiopathic GH deficiency”) extremely rare. GH does function in adulthood to maintain muscle and bone mass and strength, and has poorly-understood effects on cognition and mood.

Pediatric endocrinologists are the physicians who specialize in diagnosis and treatment of growth hormone deficiency and growth problems in children. Internist endocrinologists are the physicians with the most expertise in assessment and treatment of adult GH deficiency. Although GH can be readily measured in a blood sample, testing for GH deficiency is constrained by the fact that levels are nearly undetectable for most of the day. This makes simple measurement of GH in a single blood sample useless for detecting deficiency. Physicians therefore use a combination of indirect and direct criteria in assessing GHD, including:

·         Auxologic criteria (defined by body measurements)

·         Indirect hormonal criteria (IGF levels from a single blood sample)

·         Direct hormonal criteria (measurement of GH in multiple blood samples to determine secretory patterns or responses to provocative testing), in particular:

·         Subnormal frequency and amplitude of GH secretory peaks when sampled over several hours

·         Subnormal GH secretion in response to at least two provocative stimuli

·         Increased IGF1 levels after a few days of GH treatment

·         Response to GH treatment

·         Corroborative evidence of pituitary dysfunction

“Provocative tests” involve giving a dose of an agent that will normally provoke a pituitary to release a burst of growth hormone. An intravenous line is established, the agent is given, and small amounts of blood are drawn at 15 minute intervals over the next hour to determine if a rise of GH was provoked. Agents which have been used clinically to stimulate and assess GH secretion are arginine, levodopa, clonidine, epinephrine and propranolol, glucagon and insulin. An insulin tolerance test has been shown to be reproducible, age-independent, and able to distinguish between GHD and normal adults, and so is the test of choice.

Severe GH deficiency in childhood additionally has the following measurable characteristics:

·     Proportional stature well below that expected for family heights, although this characteristic may not be present in the case of familial-linked GH deficiency

·         Below-normal velocity of growth

·         Delayed physical maturation

·         Delayed bone age

·         Low levels of IGF1, IGF2, IGF binding protein 3

·         Increased growth velocity after a few months of GH treatment

In childhood and adulthood, the diagnosing doctor will look for these features accompanied by corroboratory evidence of hypopituitarism such as deficiency of other pituitary hormones, a structurally abnormal pituitary, or a history of damage to the pituitary. This would confirm the diagnosis; in the absence of pituitary pathology, further testing would be required.

Growth hormone treatment

GH deficiency is treated by replacing GH with daily injections under the skin or into muscle. Until 1985, growth hormone for treatment was obtained by extraction from human pituitary glands collected at autopsy. Since 1985, recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) is a recombinant form of human GH produced by genetically engineered bacteria, manufactured by recombinant DNA technology. In both children and adults, costs of treatment in terms of money, effort, and the impact on day-to-day life, are substantial.

Treatment in childhood

GH treatment is not recommended for children who are not growing despite having normal levels of growth hormone, and in the UK it is not licensed for this use.[10] Children requiring treatment usually receive daily injections of growth hormone. Most pediatric endocrinologists monitor growth and adjust dose every 3–6 months and many of these visits involve blood tests and x-rays. Treatment is usually extended as long as the child is growing, and lifelong continuation may be recommended for those most severely deficient. Nearly painless insulin syringes, pen injectors, or a needle-free delivery system reduce the discomfort. Injection sites include the biceps, thigh, buttocks, and stomach. Injection sites should be rotated daily to avoid lipoatrophy. Treatment is expensive, costing as much as $US 10,000 to 40,000 a year in the USA.

Treatment in adulthood

GH supplementation is not recommended medically for the physiologic age-related decline in GH/IGF secretion. It may be appropriate in diagnosed adult-onset deficiency, where a weekly dose approximately 25% of that given to children is given. Lower doses again are called for in the elderly to reduce the incidence of side effects and maintain age-dependent normal levels of IGF-I. In many countries, including the UK, the majority view among endocrinologists is that the failure of treatment to provide any demonstrable, measurable benefits in terms of outcomes means treatment is not recommended for all adults with severe GHD, and national guidelines in the UK as set out by NICE suggest three criteria which all need to be met for treatment to be indicated:

1.       Severe GH deficiency, defined as a peak GH response of <9mU/litre during an insulin tolerance test

2.       Perceived impairment of quality of life, as assessed by questionnaire

3.       They are already treated for other pituitary hormone disorders

·         Headache

·         Joint pain and muscle pain

·         Fluid retention, and carpal tunnel syndrome

·         Mild hypertension

·         Visual problems

·         Nausea and vomiting

·         Paraesthesiae

·         Antibody formation

·         Reactions at the injection site

·         Rarely, benign intracranial hypertension.

In childhood

When treated with GH, a severely deficient child will begin to grow faster within months. In the first year of treatment, the rate of growth may increase from half as fast as other children are growing to twice as fast (e.g., from 1 inch a year to 4 inches, or 2.5 cm to 10). Growth typically slows in subsequent years, but usually remains above normal so that over several years a child who had fallen far behind in his height may grow into the normal height range. Excess adipose tissue may be reduced.

In adulthood

GH treatment can confer a number of measurable benefits to severely GH-deficient adults, such as enhanced energy and strength, and improved bone density. Muscle mass may increase at the expense of adipose tissue. Although adults with hypopituitarism have been shown to have a reduced life expectancy, and a cardiovascular mortality rate more than double controls, treatment has not been shown to improve mortality, although blood lipid levels do improve. Similarly, although measurements of bone density improve with treatment, no rates of fractures have not been shown to improve. Effects on quality of life are unproven, with a number of studies finding that adults with GHD had near-normal indicators of QoL at baseline (giving little scope for improvement), and many using outdated dosing strategies. However, it may be that those adults with poor QoL at the start of treatment do benefi].

Perhaps the most famous person who exemplified the appearance of untreated congenital growth hormone deficiency was Charles Sherwood Stratton (1838-1883), who was exhibited by P.T. Barnum as General Tom Thumb, and married Lavinia Warren. Pictures of the couple appear to show the typical adult features of untreated severe growth hormone deficiency. Despite the severe shortness, limbs and trunk are proportional.

One of the most known persons to have suffered from this deficiency is F.C. Barcelona striker Lionel Messi. He was diagnosed with the disease at the age of eleven and his family couldn’t afford its treatment, but that cost was covered by Barcelona in exchange for Messi joining the team’s youth departments. Like many other 19th century medical terms which lost precise meaning as they gained wider currency, “midget” as a term for someone with severe proportional shortness acquired pejorative connotations and is no longer used in a medical context.

Growth Failure in Children

Growth Failure in Children Overview

Growth failure is a term used to describe a growth rate that is below the appropriate growth velocity (speed) for age. The term growth delay may refer to a situation in which a child is short but appears to be able to grow longer than children usually do, and thus, may not end up short as an adult. Dwarfism is a term that has often been used to describe extreme short stature; however, the term is unflattering and its use is often avoided. Growth hormone deficiency is sometimes called pituitary dwarfism. Short stature may be a normal expression of a person’s genetic potential and, therefore, the growth rate is normal. Short stature may also be a result of a condition that causes growth failure and a growth rate that is slower than normal. A child is considered to be short if he or she has a height below the 3rd or 5th percentile on a growth chart. About 3%-5% percent of all children are considered to be short. However, many of these children have normal growth velocities. The children who fall into this group include those with familial short stature or constitutional growth delay. Those with familial short stature are born with genes that determine their short height, and they usually have parents who are short. Constitutional growth delay is a term used to describe children who are small for their age but who have a normal growth rate. Of all children with short stature, only a few have a specific treatable medical condition. The most rapid phase of growth occurs in the mother’s uterus. After birth, the growth rate gradually declines over the first several years of life. At birth, the average length of a newborn is 20 inches; at 1 year, the average height is about 30 inches; at 2 years, the average height is about 35 inches; and at 3 years, the average height is about 38 inches. After 3 years and until puberty, linear growth continues at a relatively constant rate of 2 inches per year.

Growth Failure in Children Causes

Normal growth is the result of several factors, such as nutrition, genetics, and hormones. The following are possible causes of growth failure.

  • Familial short stature: Children with this condition have parents with short stature. They have a normal growth velocity, and bone age is not delayed. They enter puberty at a normal time and often complete growth with a short adult height.
  • Constitutional growth delay: Also called delayed puberty, children with constitutional growth delay have a normal birth weight, and their growth slows usually during the first year of life. From about age 3 to puberty, these children have an adequate growth velocity. Bone age is usually delayed, and puberty is late. Late puberty allows for more prepubertal growth, usually resulting in a normal adult height. Usually, children with constitutional growth delay do not show growth failure but a period of slow growth velocity occurs during the first year of life and just before puberty.
  • Malnutrition: Worldwide, malnutrition is probably the most common cause of growth failure and is usually poverty-related. Nutritional deficiencies in developed countries are more often the result of self-restricted diets. Poor weight gain is often more noticeable than short stature.
  • Diseases and disorders: Chronic diseases and systemic disorders that involve the nervous, circulatory, or gastrointestinal systems may be a cause of growth failure. Diseases or disorders involving the liver, kidneys, lungs, or connective tissue may also be a cause.
  • Psychosocial dwarfism: This is a disorder of short stature or growth failure and/or delayed puberty. This often occurs in association with emotional deprivation and/or child abuse and neglect.
  • Syndromes: Growth failure can be a feature of genetic syndromes, such as Turner syndrome and Down syndrome. It can also be a part of other syndromes, such as Noonan syndrome, Russell-Silver syndrome, and Prader-Willi syndrome.
  • Endocrine (hormonal): Endocrine causes include thyroid hormone deficiency (hypothyroidism), growth hormone deficiency, or other hormone disorders. Thyroid hormone is necessary for normal growth; in children with hypothyroidism, growth is extremely slow. Children with growth hormone deficiency have normal body proportions, but they may appear younger than their actual age.
  • Other: Growth failure may be related to intrauterine growth retardation (a condition in which children weigh less than 5 pounds at full term or who are small for gestational age if born preterm). Bone and cartilage disorders (called chondrodystrophies) may also be a cause of growth failure. Achondroplasia (one of the most common conditions that cause growth failure and short stature) is a genetic disorder of bone and cartilage. People with achondroplasia have a normal-sized trunk, short arms and short legs, and a slightly enlarged head with a prominent forehead. Adults with this condition are typically about 4 feet tall. There are other chondrodystrophies, such as hypochondroplasia, which are similar to achondroplasia but not as severe.

Symptoms of Growth Failure in Children

Symptoms of growth failure may include the following:

  • The child’s height, weight, and head circumference do not progress normally according to standard growth charts.
  • Physical skills, such as rolling over, sitting up, standing, or walking, are slow to develop.
  • Social and mental skills are delayed.
  • The development of secondary sexual characteristics (for example, men’s facial hair, women’s breasts) is delayed in adolescents.

When to Seek Medical Care

See your doctor or health-care practitioner if you are concerned about your child’s growth

Exams & Tests

The doctor or health-care practitioner will measure the child’s weight and height. He or she may also ask about the child’s birth weight and birth height. The doctor may use the parents’ heights to calculate the child’s projected potential adult height. The doctor may also want to know the timing of puberty in the parents. The doctor may take measurements of the limbs and trunk to determine the child’s body proportions.
The doctor may perform blood tests to check for hormones and to rule out specific syndromes associated with growth failure. The following blood tests may be performed:

  • Thyroxin and thyroid-stimulating hormone tests,
  • Serum electrolyte levels,
  • Complete blood count and sedimentation rate,
  • Insulin-like growth factor 1 and insulin-like growth factor — binding protein 3 tests, or a
  • Growth hormone stimulation test.

An MRI of the head may be indicated in children with growth hormone deficiency to rule out a brain tumor. X-rays may be taken of the left wrist to compare with standard charts. This image can also be used to determine the child’s bone age and growth potential.

Next Steps

The doctor or health-care practitioner may want to evaluate the child every three months while the cause of growth failure is being investigated. This also allows the doctor to obtain repeated growth measurements, which can then be used to estimate the child’s growth rate. The doctor may refer the child to a pediatric endocrinologist (a doctor who specializes in studying hormones) for a more detailed evaluation of the possible causes of growth failure.

Routine well-baby checkups and periodic checkups for school-age and adolescent children is the best means of prevention.

Early therapeutic intervention is important. Therapy should begin before the child’s growth process is complete. For children with hypothyroidism or growth hormone deficiency, hormone replacement therapy usually results in a period of rapid catch-up growth, with subsequent normal growth until the growth process is complete.

Our Glands

The endocrine system is a complex collection of hormone-producing glands that control basic body functions such as metabolism, growth and sexual development. The amount of hormones produced by each gland is carefully balanced. Too much or too little of a certain hormone can have effects throughout the body and cause various endocrine disorders. Many of the hormones produced by the endocrine glands interact with each other to maintain balance.

Growth Booster Plus works in conjunction with the endocrine system to help keep GH (Growth Hormone) levels at their highest beneficial levels. This is done with the complex and precise array of ingredients which are within the Growth Booster Plus supplement. Stimulation is performed in a safe and natural way with no adverse side effects. Below is a brief description of the operation of each component of the endocrine system. read and enjoy!

The endocrine system consists of:

Pituitary Gland

Secretes hormones to stimulate the adrenals, thyroid, pigment-producing skin cells and gonads (ovaries and testes). Also secretes a growth hormone, an antidiuretic hormone, prolactin (a hormone which affects milk production after childbirth) and oxytocin (a hormone which plays a role in childbirth).

Secretes hormones that stimulate or suppress the release of hormones in the pituitary gland.

Secretes insulin and glucagon, which affect the body’s absorption of glucose, the body’s main source of energy.

Adrenal Cortex

Secretes hydrocortisone, which affects metabolism. Also secretes androgen hormone and aldosterone, which affect blood pressure and saline balance.

Thyroid Gland

Secretes thyroxin, triiodothyronine and calcitonin, which affect metabolism, body heat, and bone growth.

Parathyroid Glands

Secretes a parathyroid hormone, which affects calcium levels in the blood.

The male and female reproductive glands (testes and ovaries). The testes secrete testosterone, which stimulate sperm production and other male characteristics. The ovaries secrete estrogen and progesterone, which affect many aspects of the female body, including menstrual cycles and pregnancy. The exocrine glands actually secrete their substances through ducts to particular areas. Examples of exocrine glands include the salivary glands and the sweat glands. The endocrine glands, on the other hand, secrete the hormones they produce directly into the bloodstream. Most endocrine glands are controlled by trophic (stimulating) hormones secreted by the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland, in turn, is controlled by hormones secreted by the hypothalamus in the brain.

Pituitary Gland

The pituitary gland or hypothesis is a small gland about 1 centimeter in diameter or the size of a pea. It is nearly surrounded by bone as it rests in the sella turcica, a depression in the sphenoid bone. The gland is connected to the hypothalamus of the brain by a slender stalk called the infundibulum.

There are two distinct regions in the gland: the anterior lobe (adenohypophysis) and the posterior lobe (neurohypophysis). The activity of the adenohypophysis is controlled by releasing hormones from the hypothalamus. The neurohypophysis is controlled by nerve stimulation.

Hormones of the Anterior Lobe (Adenohypophysis)

Growth hormone is a protein that stimulates the growth of bones, muscles, and other organs by promoting protein synthesis. This hormone drastically affects the appearance of an individual because it influences height. If there is too little growth hormone in a child, that person may become a pituitary dwarf of normal proportions but small stature. An excess of the hormone in a child results in an exaggerated bone growth, and the individual becomes exceptionally tall or a giant. Thyroid-stimulating hormone, or thyrotropin, causes the glandular cells of the thyroid to secrete thyroid hormone. When there is a hypersecretion of thyroid-stimulating hormone, the thyroid gland enlarges and secretes too much thyroid hormone. Adrenocorticotropic hormone reacts with receptor sites in the cortex of the adrenal gland to stimulate the secretion of cortical hormones, particularly cortisol. Gonadotropic hormones react with receptor sites in the gonads, or ovaries and testes, to regulate the development, growth, and function of these organs. Prolactin hormone promotes the development of glandular tissue in the female breast during pregnancy and stimulates milk production after the birth of the infant.

Hormones of the Posterior Lobe (Neurohypophysis)

Antidiuretic hormone promotes the reabsorption of water by the kidney tubules, with the result that less water is lost as urine. This mechanism conserves water for the body. Insufficient amounts of antidiuretic hormone cause excessive water loss in the urine. Oxytocin causes contraction of the smooth muscle in the wall of the uterus. It also stimulates the ejection of milk from the lactating breast.

Pineal Gland

The pineal gland, also called pineal body or epiphysis cerebri, is a small cone-shaped structure that extends posteriorly from the third ventricle of the brain. The pineal gland consists of portions of neurons, neuroglial cells, and specialized secretory cells called pinealocytes. The pinealocytes synthesize the hormone melatonin and secrete it directly into the cerebrospinal fluid, which takes it into the blood. Melatonin affects reproductive development and daily physiologic cycles.

Pituitary Dwarfism

Dwarfism is a condition in which the growth of the individual is very slow or delayed. There are many forms of dwarfism. The word pituitary is in reference to the pituitary gland in the body. This gland regulates certain chemicals (hormones) in the body. Therefore, pituitary dwarfism is decreased bodily growth due to hormonal problems. The end result is a proportionate little person, because the height as well as the growth of all other structures of the individual are decreased.

Pituitary dwarfism is caused by problems arising in the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland is also called the hypophysis. The pituitary gland is divided into two halves: the anterior (front) and posterior (back) halves. The anterior half produces six hormones: growth hormone, adrenocorticotropin (corticotropin), thyroid stimulating homone (thyrotropin), prolactin, follicle stimulating hormone, and lutenizing hormone. The posterior pituitary gland only produces two hormones. It produces antidiuretic hormone (vasopressin) and oxytocin. Most forms of dwarfism are a result of decreased production of hormones from the anterior half of the pituitary gland. The most common form is due to decreases of growth hormone which will be discussed here. These decreases during childhood cause the individual’s arms, legs, and other structures to develop normal proportions for their bodies, but at a decreased rate. When all of the hormones of the anterior pituitary gland are not produced, this is called panhypopituitarism. Another type of dwarfism occurs when only the growth hormone is decreased. Dwarfism can also result from a lack of somatomedin C (also called insulin like growth factor, IGF-1) production. Somatomedin C is a hormone produced in the liver that increases bone growth when growth hormone is present. The African pygmy and the Levi-Lorain dwarfs lack the ability to produce somatomedin C in response to growth hormone. All causes of dwarfism lead to a proportionate little person.

Growth is the body’s response to different hormones. The forebrain contains a small organ called the hypothalamus, which is responsible for releasing hormones in response to the body’s needs for purposes of regulation. Growth hormone is produced in the anterior pituitary gland when growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), is released by the hypothalamus. Growth hormone is then released and stimulates the liver to produce IGF-1. In return, IGF-1 stimulates the long bones to grow in length. Thus, growth can be slowed down or stopped if there is a problem making any of these hormones or if there is a problem with the cells receiving these hormones.

Pituitary dwarfism has been shown to run in families. New investigations are underway to determine the specific cause and location of the gene responsible for dwarfism. The human cell contains 46 chromosomes arranged in 23 pairs. Most of the genes in the two chromosomes of each pair are identical or almost identical with each other. However, with dwarfism, there appears to be disruption on different areas of chromosome 3 and 7. Some studies have isolated defects for the production of pituitary hormones to the short arm (the “p” end) of chromosome 3 at a specific location of 3p11. Other studies have found changes on the short arm of chromosome 7.

A child with a growth hormone deficiency is often small with an immature face and chubby body build. The child’s growth will slow down and not follow the normal growth curve patterns. In cases of tumor, most commonly craniopharyngioma (a tumor near the pituitary gland), children and adolescents may present with neurological symptoms such as headaches, vomiting, and problems with vision. The patient may also have symptoms of double vision. Symptoms such as truly bizarre and excessive drinking behaviors (polydipsia) and sleep disturbances may be common.

The primary symptom of pituitary dwarfism is lack of height. Therefore, a change in the individual’s growth habits will help lead to a diagnosis. Another diagnostic technique uses an x ray of the child’s hand to determine the child’s bone age by comparing this to the child’s actual chronological age. The bone age in affected children is usually two years or more behind the chronological age. This means that if a child is ten years old, his or her bones will look like they are those of an eight-year-old child. The levels of growth hormone and somatomedin C must also be measured with blood tests. Hypopituitarism may be gained or acquired following birth for several reasons. It could be due to trauma to the pituitary gland such as a fall or following surgery to the brain for removal of a tumor. It may also be due to the child’s environment (deprivational dwarfism). On examination by the doctor there may be optic nerve atrophy, if the dwarfism is due to a type of tumor. X rays of the area where the pituitary gland is located (sella turcica) or more advanced imaging such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography CT may show changes of the pituitary gland itself. Computed tomography, is an advanced form of x ray that will help determine the integrity of the bone and how much calcification the tumor is producing. Magnetic resonance imaging, will also help in the diagnosis. MRI is a type of imaging device that can visualize soft tissues such as muscle and fat. If the dwarfism is due to environmental and emotional problems, the individual may be hospitalization to monitor hormone levels. Following a few days of hospitalized, hormone levels may become normal due to avoidance of the original environment.

Is Your Posture Making You Shorter?

One of the basic things that people wanting to increase their height seem to forget and miss out is the issue surrounding their posture. You may remember your mother telling you as a child to ’sit up straight’ or ’stop slouching’ or even ‘put your shoulders back when you walk’. Well it seems that in this circumstance mother was actually perfectly correct! There are a multitude of scientific papers supporting the benefits associated with a good posture. These are not only physical but also psychological too.

However for the purpose of this article we will be focusing on the issues surrounding your posture and if it could be possibly making you shorter than you are! Yes it’s true; a poor posture can lead to you losing several inches off your potential height. Next time you are in a public place take a look around you’ll see that a bad posture is quite a common thing. Ailments such as bow-leg syndrome or hunching shoulders are not as uncommon as you might think.

How does this happen?

Well there are several factors which will contribute to an individual’s bad posture. Some of these are present at birth but for the majority it is something that develops over time due to the way your body is treated.

Let’s begin with exercise.
A lack of regular exercise can lead to weakening of the muscles in the back and in the stomach regions. These are your primary stabilizing muscles so a weakness here can lead a body prone to injury. More importantly it means that the imbalance of muscles can lead to your spine adopting a more unnatural hunched over position which means you will lose some of you height.
Not only will a poor posture cause you to lose some of your height and make you appear shorter, but it will also have the knock on effect of potentially causing chronic ailments later in your life too.
Some of these can include:

  • Constant and/or acute and/or chronic pains. Particularly lower back pain, stiffened shoulders, neck discomfort and weak core muscles.
  • Possibility of auto-degenerative diseases such as osteoporosis, athritis or osteoarthritis due to weakening of muscles and increased pressure on joints.

How to deal with posture related problems.

A great way to relieve these conditions and even avoid the development of them in the first place is through a series of regular stretching and core muscle targeting exercises. Over time this type of intense routine stretching will strengthen your muscles and help keep your spinal column in line and in the correct posture. This will have the roll on effect of helping you maintain a healthy posture in your everyday life. You may want to consider visiting a medical professional before beginning any serious exercise programmers to double check that there are no underlying problems and issues that you might otherwise be unaware of. This will help you avoid making any ailment worse. Always begin your programmed of exercise gradually and make sure you listen to what your body is telling you!

The 5 Most Common Posture Related Problems

The human body is a fantastic piece of biological equipment which is essentially a strong movable frame (which we know as the Skeleton) surrounded by a series of strong flexible muscles which are connected to the skeleton by ligaments.

This ingenious set up means we able to move around at our will with a large degree of freedom and control. However due to the nature of our daily lives in this day in age, many of us develop poor posture. This means we do not hold our body in a good position when doing things such as walking or sitting at a computer desk. This is a concern for many as a good posture provides us with a series of benefits such as a strong spine, and a higher sense of self confidence. It also gives the impression to others we encounter that we are strong, intelligent and capable. There is also a more serious effect of having a poor posture that is far more relevant to you. Having a poor body posture will effectively reduce your height and make you look far shorter than you actually are. For those of us looking for ways to increase height naturally this is a major problem as height and posture are closely linked and impact on one another. You’ve probably noticed that as people age they can sometimes begin to stoop over and their spines start to hunch forward?
This means that you will likely see a good deal of older citizens who look substantially shorter than yourself. In fact, in truth they are probably no shorter than you, but the poor posture they have developed gives the impression that they have lost height. The same can be said of many people these days. Modern working jobs such as typing and writing means that some of us hold our bodies in a bad posture for hours at a time, each and every day. Over time this can cause bad posture all the time and as we already know posture and height are linked together, they will appear shorter.

These are many posture related problems but here are the most common 5:

  • Tilted Pelvis Problem – Your pelvis has a particular purpose in your body. It acts as a lever and has a big impact on your posture and height. Sometimes individuals who are overweight will develop a problem known as ’tilted pelvis’ whereby the weakened stomach muscles means the weight pulls the pelvis forward which induces a bad posture which reduces your height.
  • Knock-Knees and Bow-Legs – These are two quite common conditions that are the opposite of one another but have the same negative effect on posture and height. Sufferers generally walk with the majority of their weight either on the instep or the out-step, which can induce a poor posture and again steals inches form an individuals height.
  • Rounded Shoulders – This is also a fairly common condition where the individual suffers from an abnormality in the curvature of his or her spine which makes the shoulders push forward and look like the individual is hunched over. Obviously somebody in this position will be losing height as they will be bent forward more than ususal.
  • Joint & Foot Pain – Those people who suffer with a poor posture can also experience difficulty in their joints and in their feet too. Normally this is due to the skeletal system becoming poorly aligned and so pressure is placed on areas of the body which are not designed to take it.
  • Chronic Disorders – In more serious cases it is possible for individuals with a poor posture to develop chronic ailments as a result. The poor posture will mean blood flow and circulation can be limited and unsteady which over time can lead to problems with bodily functions and internal organs.

This may seem quite a shock to you and may even be frightening, but you should be aware that everything we’ve talked about can be avoided if you make a conscious effort to improve your posture.

Target Height Growth Through Posture Improving Exercises

Posture is one of the biggest influences on human height growth and back health. If you want to achieve your full height potential, it is important that you maintain good posture throughout all of your activity. Making a conscious effort to stand up straight is, of course a good way to have good posture. However, performing regular posture improvement and height growth exercises will help your body have better posture naturally. To help you better understand why posture plays such an important role in your height, you need to know a little bit about the structure of your spine. Your spine is naturally “S” shaped and when you are standing, a correctly aligned spine will appear as if a string is running straight through your body from the crown of your head, down the center of your torso, and into your heels. This makes your body stand as tall as possible. When you have poor posture, a portion of your back is curved too much in one direction. For example, people who tilt their pelvis too forward can develop a “swayback” that slumps their body. When your body slumps in this manner it puts stress on your back and wears down the discs in your spine, decreasing your height. In fact, many people with poor posture are one to two inches shorter than their real height. You should always try to maintain good posture in any position. If your back, neck, and other related muscles are not in shape then you will find that you have to make more of an effort to do so. However, if you strengthen these relevant muscles you will have a natural ability to resist the tendency to slump and fight the pressure put on your spine that causes you to become shorter.

In the following paragraphs, you can learn about three height growth exercises designed to help you improve your posture. 1) The first exercise is called Bowing Down to Yourself. It is one of simplest height growth exercises and you can do it almost anywhere. This move improves your posture, and also stretches out the muscles in your upper back. Sit down into a chair and keep your back straight and head facing forward. Keep your feet flat on the floor. Slowly lower your chin to your chest and take three long breaths before raising your head back to the starting position. Repeat this movement as necessary. 2) The Bowing Down to Yourself exercise should be followed by the Ear to Shoulder. Like the previous exercise, this will help improve your posture and stretch your upper back muscles. This movement especially stretches the muscles that run along the sides of your upper spine and neck which helps hold your neck and head in a position of good posture and increase height growth.

Sit in the same position as before, with your spine straight and feet flat on the ground. Take a deep breath and when you exhale roll your right ear towards your right shoulder. Take another deep breath and as you exhale roll your chin to your chest. On the next deep breath, exhale and roll your left ear to your left shoulder. Finally, take another deep breath and exhale as you roll your chin back to your chest. All of your movements should be steady and slow and you should inhale deeply. Repeat this set at least 3 more times. 3) As you perform the next exercise, called the Turkey Stretch, you will be able to feel the stretching and lengthening along the back of your neck. Because your neck is such an important factor in good posture, this exercise is great to increase height growth, and general fitness. Once again, you should keep your spine straight and feet flat while you sit in a chair. Act as if there were a string pulling up the crown of your head to make you as tall as possible. Focus your eyes on the area in front of your nose and raise your hand to your chin. Take a deep breath in, rest your hand on your chin and then begin to breathe out slowly. As you exhale, lightly push your chin into your neck until you feel the stretching on the back of your neck. When you finish exhaling stop and then repeat the set, you should do this at least 3 more times.

Can I Still Grow Taller After Puberty?

One of the most frequently asked questions we hear today is whether or not it is still possible for people to grow taller naturally after puberty? The answer is quite simply yes. Puberty is a period in your life where your body will undergo a lot of big changes, both internally and externally, but it does not mark the point at which you will no longer grow. In fact, although you will grow at the quickest rate during puberty due to the body being flooded with hormones to facilitate the changes, you will continue to grow for several years afterwards. On average, it is possible for anybody regardless of their current height or weight to increase in size after puberty. This can be anything between 2 and 4 inches, sometimes even more. What you need to realize is that parts of the body can be safely stretched out to help increase your height naturally after puberty. These are such places like your spinal discs and lower back area.

Your spine and your spinal column is a very important factor in determining your height. It is estimated that it actually accounts for around 35% of your height in total. It is this spinal column that comprises of a series of smaller vertebrae bones which together make up your spine. There are 33 of these in total and the vast majority of them are freely movable and not fused to one another. They are held in place with tough tissues and ligaments, but essentially they are movable.

In between each of these vertebrae there is a soft shock absorbing pad that acts as a cushion to absorb any of the knocks your spine may take in everyday life, so its very important that these invertebrate discs provide separation and protection between your actual vertebrae.

This is where the interesting part comes in. By stretching your spinal column regularly and safely, you are able to expand these discs and lengthen your spine, this means you can grow taller naturally. The stretching facilitates the increased level of blood flow in and around the discs which will increase in flexibility and content. Alternatively, a lack if exercise will have the opposite effect and these discs can become stiff and loose elasticity resulting in a poor level of flexibility and a shortening of the spine too.

Tips To Grow Taller

Increase Height By Boosting HGH Levels

If you are of a shorter stature then you are probably always looking for great information and tips to grow taller. There are excellent eBooks available that give you height increasing tips regarding exercise, diet, sleep, and many other related topics. For you to better understand how take advantage all of this information, you need to understand what makes your body grow and how you can use it to your advantage. Even before you are born, your body is in a rapid state of growth. It stays in a state of growth, usually occurring in spurts, until puberty is complete. Fret puberty, you will naturally grow slightly more until about age 30. This growth is a result of Human Growth Hormone, or HGH. HGH is composed of a complex set of amino acids and is released into your bloodstream by your endocrine system, specifically your pituitary gland. Once in your bloodstream, your brain signals your body to begin using the HGH.

HGH serves many functions. It helps your body turn fat into energy needed for growth. It triggers regeneration and enlargement of organs and muscles. Most importantly with relevance to height, HGH directs your bones to increase in size and strength. One of the best tips to increase height is to learn how to get your body to make more HGH and how to prepare your body to use the HGH more effectively. Your brain controls when and how much HGH is released into your system. One of the best tips on how to grow taller is that if you will want to trigger your brain to release more HGH. Also, you will want to stimulate your brain to use that HGH for growth and not just for repair. Training your brain in this manner means that you have to carefully focus and discipline yourself in several areas of your life. Sleep is essential to increasing your HGH and therefore growth. This is the peak time when your brain releases HGH and begins to use it within your body. Of the many tips for growing taller, getting enough sleep is very important. You need to have enough sleep time for your body to unwind from the day’s activities and begin the restoration and growth process.

If you get too little sleep, you will not give your body enough time to release, circulate, and use the HGH in your system. If you are chronically sleep-deprived your brain will be too distracted to focus on growing at all. However, if you create a good sleep environment where you can get at least 8 hours of deep sleep, you are giving your brain the biggest incentive to release increased quantities of HGH and make you grow. Eating right is another one of the important height increase tips. As we discussed earlier, HGH is made from amino acids. Amino acids are derived from protein which you must supply your body in order to boost your HGH levels. You need to have protein in good proportions if you expect to grow. However, protein alone will not make you grow. Fats, Carbohydrates, Vitamins, and Minerals are all apart of good nutrition. Each of these items, in the right amounts, will compliment each other to help release more HGH and build a taller, stronger you.

Furthermore, you must monitor when you eat. If you eat too much food too late in the day, it will keep your body focused on digestion all night instead of releasing HGH. On the other hand, if you eat smaller meals throughout the day, you will be giving your body just the right amount of the nutrients it needs to release the optimum amounts of HGH. Another one of the better height increase tips available to produce extra HGH is to develop an effective grow taller exercise program. Scientific studies have shown that the brain releases a larger quantity of HGH after aerobic exercises. However, you need to prepare your body for growth so that your body does not use the HGH for simply repairs. If you follow up your higher impact exercises with an anaerobic routine, the stretching will help your muscles and cartilage decompress.

This will make it more receptive to the HGH & help trigger growth.

Your body is a very complex machine, so there are many different ways to increase your levels of HGH. Exercise, diet, and sleep play a major role in how much HGH is released in your system and how it is used, but so do many other factors. You must overcome all of these factors before you will be able to best increase and use HGH.

Exercise is one of the very best improvable factors that you can begin applying today. This is likely to have the most substantial effect but only if you carry it out correctly. A well formulated and focused grow taller exercise plan will not only increase your health and fitness but it will also improve your posture and help to increase your height too. To begin with you need to realize that to grow taller and get the very most out of your efforts you will need to strengthen your core. This consists of your abdominal muscles and your back muscles too. Don’t think you need to go and spend a fortune on expensive gym memberships or exercise equipment. The best core strengthening activities can be done in your home. Sit ups and press ups on a regular basis, perhaps daily to begin with, will quickly improve your muscle stability and tone. This will have a knock on effect of improving your posture and straightening your spinal column. Start with 10 of each exercise per day and try to increase over time, but don’t do anything that feels uncomfortable. You need to strengthen these muscles gradually to help grow taller naturally.

Get Enough Rest Too!

Any activity you decide to do to help you grow taller naturally will likely fail if you do not have enough rest. Sleep offers your body the chance to recuperate from the activities of the day. During this period the body will repair itself and rest. It also allows your body the opportunity to develop and grow more naturally when you are idle and sleeping. As a secondary effect, plenty of rest will mean you can feel awake and alert through your day.

Don’t Neglect Your Diet.

You should try and think of your body as a machine and the food you consume is literally the fuel that you use to power this machine. What would happen if you put the wrong fuel into your car at the gas station?
Yes, of course it would break down and wouldn’t function properly. This is exactly the same inside the human body. A healthy balanced grow taller diet is a crucial element of growing taller naturally. You will need to include all the required elements to allow your body to energize itself and develop and grow correctly!

The Top 7 Interesting Height Statistics!

So you’re probably concerned with your height and you’re looking for a way to help increase your height and grow taller?

Well don’t panic just yet, there are lots of alternative ways to help increase your height naturally, but in the mean time why don’t you take a look at some of these more interesting height statistics:
1) Netherlands has on average the tallest people in the world! As a national average in the Netherlands men stand a huge 6 feet tall and women also average just over 5 feet and 7 inches while in the USA the average man stands at only 5 feet and 9 inches while women fair even worse at around 5 feet and 4 inches!
2) Although Netherlands have the tallest country in the world on average population heights, the tallest people in the world are found in Montenegro where the average man is found to be a very tall 6 feet and 3 inches!
The women here are also very tall and come in at an average of 5 feet and 11 inches which means the average women in Montenegro is actually taller than the average man in the United States of America!
3) Currently in the United States there are over 1.5 million women whose height is over 5 feet and 9 inches. Compare this to Japan where the average male is only 5 feet tall flat!
4) There is a direct correlation between the height of  nation and it’s nutritional health. Each generation has tended to average in a little taller than the last and some will argue that this is also down the increased awareness of good nutrition.
Poor health in past years attributed to poor diets and lack of fresh foods has meant that people did not grow as tall as they did today. Height statistics show this to be a trend set to continue.
5) It  has always been noted and widely accepted by the scientific community that wealthier people have at all stages of history, been substantially taller than their poorer counterparts. Again this highlights the importance of a healthy diet in encouraging sustained height growth.
6) In the modern day world, the height gap between the rich and the poor has closed substantially. This is mainly due to the increased health systems in place across the globe.
Good food is no longer only the preserve of the rich and wealthy, so the gap between the rich and poor, the short and tall, is now closing fast.
7) You may be wondering why some Asian nations such as the Japanese or the Chinese still remain short people? This has much to do with the traditional diets of these countries, however genetics do still play a part in human growth.
That said, over the last 15 years height statistics have shown us that Japan’s average height has increased greatly and they are now on average, taller than their Chinese counterparts.

Alternative Methods To Increase Height?

By now you’ve probably come across some of the natural ways available to you which can help you grow taller, but you’re probably also wondering about other alternative techniques that may be available to help increase your height also. Sometime individuals feel the benefits of using alternative methods to increase their height is more suited to their particular circumstances, so here’s an explanation of what’s available today.
There are two primary alternative methods:
1) Using Growth Hormones – By using growth hormones found in products like glycogen, glutamine, argentine, ornithine, niacin, and 16 other amino acids which you can get with or without a prescription you can often boost your bodies growth response and increase your height this way.
These type of substances are often used by bodybuilders and power lifters alike to achieve the sort of immense physiques you are accustomed to seeing on cable TV!
Some of these products are claimed to have other positive benefits such as being an effective antioxidant, helping to boost your immune system and even helping the body to recover after a trauma or injury.
However you must not forget that often, there are a range of possible side effects with these type of products which can be used to help increase your height.
More often than not this can include diarrhea, headache, drowsiness, muscle spasms, dizziness, high blood pressure, nervousness, depression, hair loss, gaining weight, and others too.

2) Human Growth Hormone to increase height. The second major alternative way to increase height is through a substance called HGH or Human Growth Hormone, which is a man made hormone that is often very expensive. It is administered through a series of injections which supply the body with human growth hormone to increase height. This is perhaps one of the more drastic and certainly more expensive ways to resort to and needs to be prescribed by your doctor or specialist.
This particular option is not without its own risks though. For instance the possibility of liver problems and abnormal liver function is greatly increased, as it the potential for developing muscular-skeletal disease and carpel tunnel syndrome, so be very wary before considering this type of treatment. The other problem with using HGH to help increase height is that once you begin a course of injections, your body will natural cease to produce these chemicals itself, which means it will not longer produce natural growth hormones after you finish taking your HGH course. You may feel that these treatments discussed above are far to dangerous and have too many complications for you to seriously consider them as an option to help increase your height. You may be better off trying one of the other methods available of increasing your bodies natural levels of growth hormone.

Growth & Development

Children are not just smaller versions of adults. They have very particular needs and capabilities. One of the major issues in children’s sport is a lack of knowledge on the part of coaches and parents about how children grow and develop. This ignorance places unrealistic expectations on the child and often causes them to give up the sport.     Good coaches know and understand the many changes that take place from child to adult and structure their coaching to best suit the needs of the young athlete. In the following descriptions in this chapter it is assumed that children are receiving good levels of nutrition. Restricted nutrition and sickness will both affect the way in which a child grows and develops. This should be taken into account by the coach when deciding the needs of the child.     There are clear stages that children pass through from birth to adult. These stages are the same for boys and girls, but girls generally mature before boys. This is clearly shown in the diagram below.

Physical Development

Physical growth is obviously important to performance. We will start by looking at how the body changes during development. There are important changes in body size and proportions. These changes affect the way children can perform different skills and activities.

Patterns of Growth – Changes in Size

Children grow in size at a very fast rate. At birth infants are only about a quarter of their adult height. This final adult height is usually reached at about twenty years of age. There are four characteristic stages of growth from birth to adult:

  • Rapid growth in infancy and early childhood
    ● Slow, steady growth in middle childhood
    ●     Rapid growth during puberty
    ●     Gradual slowing down of growth in adolescence until adult height is reached
Both sexes are of a comparable shape and size during infancy and childhood.

Patterns of Growth – Changes in Proportions

The physical proportions of the body at birth are very different from those of the adult. Some body parts grow more than others during development to reach the final adult proportions. The illustration shows the relative size of body parts at different ages.

The head is proportionally large and the legs proportionally short during childhood. At birth the head is one quarter of the length of the body compared with about one sixth in the adult. The legs are about one third the length of the body at birth and one half in the adult. Because the body proportions change this means that not all of the body segments grow by the same amount.

Changes in the size and shape of the body are caused by different segments growing at different times.

These changes in body proportions will have a great influence on how skills will be performed. For example, changes in the relative size of the head in childhood affects the balance of the body during movement and the relative shortness of the legs in the very young limits running ability. At the beginning of puberty children have long arms and legs. They are better suited for running but the rapid growth may make them appear to be clumsy and to have difficulty in coordination.

Growth Spurts

When the rate of growth increases rapidly it is called a growth spurt. The most important growth spurt is the one which occurs at puberty. This spurt produces a rapid increase in both weight and height The peak of this growth spurt occurs at about age 12 for girls and age 14 for boys. Before this growth spurt there are no important differences between boys and girls in weight and height. During growth spurts most of the child’s energy is used for growing. Children will be easily tired and may not be able to keep up their usual volume or intensity of training. Light training will stimulate bodily growth if the child has enough energy.

Differences Between Boys & Girls

The growth spurt and puberty occur at different ages for girls and boys. Girls usually start and finish the stages of puberty and adolescence earlier than boys. The characteristic differences between boys and girls occur at puberty in response to changes in hormones produced by the body. Typically, this results in broader shoulders and little change in hip width in boys and broader hips and little change in shoulder width in girls. These changes affect the way boys and girls move. Wider hips in the girls result in the thighs being angled more inwards which changes their running action. This may be very frustrating and difficult for the athlete to understand. Knowledgeable coaches prepare their female athletes before the changes at puberty. There may be a period for the athlete when there is little or no improvement in running performance. Once the running action has been adapted to the new body shape progress can be made. This period of adjustment can take up to two years. Patience and encouragement from the coach during -this time will be of most benefit to the young woman. The sexual development which happens at puberty can bring physical difficulties for adolescent children, as well as causing them mental and emotional preoccupation. Coaches need to be particularly understanding with girls when menstruation begins. This may, but should not, inhibit their participation in physical activity. Menstruation is a normal biological process that commences with the sexual development at puberty. Male coaches in particular should understand what is happening to the bodies of the female athletes they coach. At puberty girls start to produce mature eggs in their ovaries. They will notice this because each month they will lose a small amount of blood through the vagina. This menstruation is also known as a period and generally lasts for about five days. The illustration shows the changes that occur in the ovaries and womb during the menstrual cycle.

An athlete should note any irregularities in the timing of her menstrual cycle and, as with any physiological irregularity, seek medical advice if necessary. A female’s weight fluctuates naturally during her menstrual cycle and this may mean differences in the range of O.5Kg to 3Kg. Good communication between the coach, athlete and parents can help reduce anxiety over what is a natural, biological change in the body.

Early & Late Developers

Each child develops at their own rate and some children develop earlier and some later than the average. For both boys and girls the age at the peak of the major growth spurt frequently occurs up to two years before or after the average age.

There can easily be differences of four years in development between children of the same age. Thinking about growth stages and developmental age rather than age alone is perhaps one of the most important considerations when coaching young athletes. Early success may be due entirely to relative size and strength at the time. As other children catch up the early matures may be left behind. On the other hand, the late developers are frequently overlooked if they are judged only on their performances.

Structure of the Body

The changes in size and proportion are the easily observed signs of development. They are the result inside the body of changes to the skeleton. The skeleton of a child is mostly cartilage, which is softer than bone and can bend. The process by which cartilage becomes bone begins very early in life in special growth areas in the bones. These special growth areas are called growth plates. These growth areas in the bone are the weakest part of the bone. They can be easily injured by a sudden force or a repeated force. Mild forces can stimulate bone growth, but excessive forces can cause damage and have serious long term effects. Rebounding, repeated vigorous throwing and the use of weights should be avoided during periods of rapid growth. Once the body stops growing the growth regions become bone and are no longer weak areas.

Children & Exercise

Children do not tolerate exercise as well as adults. They are much less aware of their real limits. Children do not breathe as slowly or as deeply as adults. The average six year old child breathes in 38 liters of air to get one liter of oxygen. The average 18 year old needs only to breathe 28 liters of air to get one liter of oxygen. This means that the younger the athlete the harder their bodies must work to provide the oxygen their muscles need. The body has three energy systems. Two of these are anaerobic, without oxygen, and the other is the aerobic system, using oxygen. Before adolescence children get a higher proportion of their energy from the aerobic system than adults do. In general, children are better at steady, extended exercises. Physical changes during and after puberty will improve their anaerobic abilities. The amount of this improvement will help decide what event or distance is best for a young athlete.

Implications for the coach

  • Think about growth stages rather than ages
    ● Think how changes in physical proportions will affect performance
    ●     Help children understand the changes taking place in their bodies
    ●     Set standards of performance according to developmental age not chronological age
    ●     Group children according to physical development, using height and weight as a guide
    ●     Encourage skill learning for all your athletes, late developers could be very successful later
    ●     Don’t use exercises which place excessive force on bone growth regions during periods of
    maximum growth
    ●     A void weights before adolescence

Growing Taller Nutrition

It is widely accepted throughout the medical and scientific communities that the food we eat has a huge impact on our growth rate as humans. This has lead to a series of studies in to grow taller diets and growing taller nutrition as a whole. Not only is it the type of food that we eat which makes a difference, but also the quality and quantity of the food which has an effect also. Over the last few years the food we eat has been recognized as playing a crucial part in our growth, including that of our height! This means that the right type of food needs to be consumed if we are to grow to our full height potential. As with most balanced diets, there are 6 food nutrient groups which we need to make sure is included in our diets if we are to grow taller naturally through nutrition. All of these play an individual part in both growth, and in keeping us generally healthy and illness free.

  • Minerals
  • Vitamins
  • Proteins
  • Carbohydrates
  • Fats
  • Water

During this 7 part series we will address and talk about each of the above elements, and explain how they can be used to our advantage. We will start off at the beginning and talk about the importance of Minerals.

What’s Important About  ?

An adequate supply of minerals is a crucial component of a healthy balanced diet. Minerals are used in just about every function our body undertakes from repairing itself to developing and fuelling our organs and muscles too. Minerals also play a very important role in making sure that our growth rate is at its optimum level, but to do this we need to consume the full range of minerals our bodies will need. Another secondary reason why we need to include minerals in our grow taller nutrition plan is because our bones contain a large percentage of minerals, so a lack of these could lead to compromised bone growth.

So What About Calcium?

Calcium is a very special mineral and it can be argued that in the case of grow taller diets, Calcium is possibly the most important mineral of all. It is actually a very abundant mineral found in many parts of your body from your bones to your hair and even your fingernails too! The only problem is that as humans, our bodies are unable to produce Calcium for ourselves, so we are required to consume the Calcium levels we need. Thankfully that is quite a simple task as long as we maintain a healthy and balanced diet. This is why a diet which is rich in calcium is critical to maintain a healthy and steady bone growth. It also helps to strengthen you bones even after you think you have stopped growing.

You can think of your body as a large bank, and the Calcium you have inside you is the savings in this bank. If your body does not consume enough calcium during the day, it will make a calcium withdrawal from your bodies ‘bank’. We do not want this to happen because it means less calcium is available for your bones. If on the other hand you consume plenty of calcium during the day, your body will deposit the left over calcium in to the bank, which benefits your bones! If you tend to have a diet that is always low in calcium, over time the body’s calcium bank will run out and your bones can begin to grow weak and brittle. This leads to easier breakages and means your body cannot repair and fix itself as easy. This is a problem in older people as they naturally age, however if you maintain a high calcium diet your bones will continue to become more dense until the age of about 30! You can supplement your diet with calcium products, but a well balanced diet is always a better option.

Next It’s Phosphorous.

Phosphorus is another mineral that is found in huge abundance throughout the human body. This is probably because the vast majority of it is combined with calcium in your body to create the compound calcium phosphate, which is the source of your bones strength. It also has a secondary function which is just as important to your grow taller diet. Calcium phosphate carries very important information about cell regeneration as it forms part of your DNA. As it often works hand in hand with the calcium in your body, it is a sensible idea to make sure you also have a high intake of phosphorus rich foods in your diet. Fortunately for us, this time phosphorous is quite easy to include in our daily diets as it is found in a wide range of produce such as dairy produce and meat, fish and even in vegetables too. However, phosphorus does have a negative side to it too. It can in large quantities interfere with your bodies abilities to use calcium. One item of your diet that could lead to this sort of issue is soda. Most soft drinks do contain a high level of phosphorus, so while you do want to keep an equal level of calcium and phosphorus, you do not want to overload you body with a huge imbalance of it in your grow taller nutrition plan.

Vitamins are basically organic substances which are essential for our growth and development at every stage during our life. It is therefore really important that we make sure we are consuming an adequate level of vitamins throughout our daily lives. Vitamins are essential to us and unfortunately our bodies are unable to create these sort of substances ourselves, so if we want to grow taller, we really need to have enough vitamins for our body to develop and our bones to grow. There are two primary types of vitamins which we should be including in our diets. These are basically fat soluble vitamins and water soluble vitamins. Each has its own characteristics which we will briefly cover here

1) Fat-soluble vitamins – These are the vitamins which we normally take in through eating meats and other associated products made from animals or animal extracts such as fats and dairy produce too. The main fat soluble minerals we should be concerned with are vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and finally vitamin K. These particular vitamins are transported throughout your system in fats, and if you have an excess of this, your body will store it in your fatty tissues or liver. This method of storing fat soluble vitamins means you have a reserve and do not need to take them in on a daily basis.
2) Water-soluble vitamins – Again, these vitamins are also found in meats and fish but they are also found in most vegetables and fruits. Unlike fat soluble minerals they are transported in water instead of fats which means it is not possible for your body to store these vitamins as your system will naturally flush them through in your waste products like urine.

How Can I Get All These Vitamins From My Diet?

It is not too difficult to achieve an adequate level of vitamins in your daily diets. Most of the foods we know to be good for us contain high levels of vitamins, especially those foods such as green vegetables and fruits. Some other types of foods are now manufactured to also help, such as fortified breakfast cereal which contains added vitamins too. However the conventional techniques used to mass produce our foods these days have the effect of leeching vitamins from them. This means it is even more important when trying to grow taller to eat fresh produce that is not packaged or has not been processed and placed on a store shelf. Make sure the variety of food you consume is varied too, including fish and grains which are healthy for your most important organ, the heart.

It is widely agreed that proteins are the foundation building block for all life. As humans our bodies use protein for just about every process that takes place in our systems. You will probably have noticed that regular gym users develop larger muscles than the average person?
Well did you also know that it is not only hard work that produces these muscles?
For muscles to grow larger and stronger the body must repair and rebuild them to a bigger size than they previously were, so can you guess what the body will use to do this?
Yes, that’s correct, protein!

Weight lifters and bodybuilders have to consume enormous amounts of protein to help their bodies to increase in size and muscle density. So, just like any other development that may take place in your body, protein must be an important part of your grow taller nutrition plan! Apart from the usual vitamins, minerals and fats, your body will required elevated levels of protein to help facilitate the growth you require to become taller. There are essentially two types of protein which our bodies will require to do this. The first is a called a ‘complete protein’ and the second is know as an ‘incomplete protein’. There is a difference between the two and it is important you understand this, so here is a brief explanation of them:
1) Complete Protein  – A complete protein contain a full quota of essential amino acids which are necessary for your body to rebuild tissues. These are normally found in food types such as animal meats, fish, eggs and cheeses. Basically any organic food derived from a living creature is likely to contain complete proteins.
2) Incomplete Protein  – An incomplete protein is therefore a protein which does not have a complete quota of amino acids. These proteins lack the capability to be used independently to rebuild and develop your body. Although it can be combined with other proteins to complete the chain and be very useful to your body. This type of protein is normally found in pulses such as nuts, beans and seeds too.

The best foods for complete proteins for your grow taller nutrition diet are those complete proteins which can be found in fish, eggs, milk, and lean meats. These foods normally contain most of the complete 20 amino acids, as well as the 8 essential ones which cannot be synthesized by the human body. Another one of the most effective proteins you should be consuming is soy protein. This is now more widely available than ever in stores and can come as a replacement for products such as corned beef or hamburgers. Try soy milk, nuts, and soy flour. If you like the idea of consuming a protein shake to increase your intake, try this recipe: mix 2-5 boiled egg whites, 1 to 2 bananas, 3-6 strawberries, 1 teaspoon of vanilla in blender at high speed. You can add soy protein or milk or even vegetables. Try different proportions to match your taste. Drink this shake once or twice a day between meals or after exercise, and a smaller shake right before you go to bed.

Amino Acid Food Source Brenefits
Arginine Brown rice,Carob proteins,Chocolate, Nuts,Oatmeal,Popcorn, Raisins, Raw cereals,Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, Whole-wheat products This is main building block of proteins used in the body and also stimulates the body to release human growth hormone too.
L-Lysine Cheese, Eggs, Fish, Lima beans, Milk, Potatoes, Red meat, Soy products, Yeast This is another essential building block used in the body. It also aids the body to produce antibodies and promotes healing and repair to damaged tissues.
Tyrosine Almonds, Avocados, Bananas, Cheese, Cottage cheese, Lima beans, Non-fat dried milk, Peanuts, Pickled herring, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds Again, this is another building block for protein used in the body. Do not take this without medical supervision as increased levels of chemicals such as nor epinephrine, dopamine and epinephrine may be found in the blood.
Taurine Avocados, Dairy products, Red meats, especially lamb and beef, Tempe (fermented soybean product) Promotes normal growth and development of tissues in the body.
Folic Acid Acid Barley, Beans, Brewer’s yeast, Calves’ liver, Endive Fruits, Garbanzo beans (chickpeas), Green leafy vegetables, Lentils, Oranges, Peas, Rice, Soybeans, Split peas, Sprouts, Wheat, Wheat germ Promotes normal red blood cell production and function. It also helps to maintain the nervous system, sex organs and white blood cells too. It also regulates embryonic and fetal development of nerve cells. Promotes normal growth and development too.

Now you’ve considered the other elements of a diet that you need to maximize your efforts to grow taller, you need to think about fats.

Most of probably think of fats as a very negative element in our daily diets and most likely think we should avoid these at all costs. However that is not necessarily the case.

There are in fact two types of fats which we as Humans consume as part of our daily eating habits and you should be aware of where fats fit in to your ‘grow taller diet’ plan.

The two types of fats we consume are known as saturated and unsaturated fats. A diet which is excessively high in fats will of course stunt your growth efforts, so let’s talk about the two different types of fats:

The saturated fats are those which we consider to be the most harmful to us as people. They contain extremely high levels of cholesterol which can block your arteries and cause fat deposits to be left around your arteries and organs which can then sometimes lead to illnesses such as heart disease.

Saturated fats can also contain lot of calories which tends to cause you to put on weight at a faster rate than other foods.

As we have already discussed, putting on weight will counter your efforts to grow taller as it will make your body appear to be wider and therefore shorter too.

Primarily saturated fats come from animal products like red meat and fatty dairy items such as whole milk and eggs so try to control the amount of these foods you eat.

The second type of fats we will discuss are known as ‘unsaturated’ fats.

These types of fats are less harmful to you as they contain a far lower calorific value and also contain lower levels of cholesterol too. As a Human, you do require a certain level of fats to keep yourself healthy and for certain functions to be carried out effectively in your body.

Due to this purpose you should try and make sure you eat more unsaturated fats than saturated in your grow taller diet plan.

There is now a wide range of products available which contain unsaturated fats as opposed to the more harmful saturated.

Some vegetable oil used in cooking contain more unsaturated fats. The most commonly used unsaturated vegetable oils are corn, soy and cotton seed.

You should also be aware that dairy produce such as full fat milks and butters do contain high levels of saturated fats, so instead you should opt to drink skimmed milk which is better for you.

You should also remember that although we do need a small amount of fat to stay healthy, it should make up no more than around 25-30% of your daily food intake.

Adopting a sensible ‘grow taller’ diet plan will allow your body to continue releasing growth hormones without being compromised by high levels of insulin.

As you are probably aware that water is the foundation for life and is the basic essential element of our bodies.

In fact around 80% of our body is made up of water! It is used in every single process that take place both internally and externally from operating our organs to moisturizing our skin and maintaining muscle structure too.

Water is also use in the synovial fluids that lubricate our joints and allow them to move freely every day.

It is difficult for us to understand just how crucial water is to our survival, but when you consider that a human can generally survive for several weeks without food, but can only survive for a matter of two days without water, it helps to emphasize its importance in our lives.

It is recommended that we consume around 1.5 litres of water each and every day. This can be made up of other fluids such as tea, coffee and juice drinks, but it is critical we do not let our bodies become dehydrated.

What we need to remember is that for our bodies to function properly it needs to be adequately hydrated, which means that without water, the processes which use growth hormones to allow us to grow taller cannot take place.

This means that water is a very important factor we need to include in our grow taller nutrition plan.

Don’t forget, it is very difficult to drink too much fluid as our bodies will simply pass it through as urine, which means we can make certain we consume enough fluid each and every day without the risk of it becoming a health problem.

Remember, to grow taller our bodies will need all the nutrients it can get, and water is the basis for consuming these and helping to transport them around your body too.

These fluids can be consumed as one of the following: plain water from a safe drinking source, juice from fresh squeezed fruits or bottled juices, warm drinks such as tea or coffee but beware of taking in too much caffeine as it could lead to headaches and restlessness.

Alcoholic drinks do not qualify as fluid intake as the diuretic effect they have actually means that nutrients are washed from your body and you will lose fluids too.

You may be wondering about what else to eat to grow taller. Well you may also be surprised to find out that a very common mistake lots of people make when trying to get taller is that they include far too much carbohydrate in their diet. Believe it or not a diet that is high in carbohydrates can have a stunting effect on your growth. Although carbohydrate does contain a lot of energy, it only contains a very little amount of vitamins and minerals, or anything else your body can use to aid growth. The high carbohydrate diet is argued to be one of the very reasons that Asian countries have such a short average height compared with those of Europe or the United States. Foods which Asian countries eat regularly such as corns, rice, breads and grain products are extremely high in carbohydrates but contain little else useful to the bodies development or growth.

This has meant a stunted growth effect which leaves the population in this part of the world shorter than average. A second important issue to consider when thinking about your ‘grow taller’ nutrition plan is the glycemic index. The glycemic index or G.I is a measure of how fast the carbohydrate you eat will absorb into the bloodstream and raise your blood sugar levels. This normally takes place over a period of several hours but it largely depends on the food types you are eating and its GI. As the GI is measured on a scale, the base rate or ‘normal food’ is set at 100, this is normally considered to be white bread. This is important to growing taller because food which has a higher GI becomes absorbed into your blood quickly and therefore raises the level of insulin in your system. Why is this bad? Well insulin inhibits the ability of growth hormones in your body. The following are the Glycemic values for various foods with White Bread as the Standard food value:

The Human Height Calculator

You’re probably wondering what the human height calculator is and if it really can work out your maximum natural height?
Well it’s true! It does exists.
Let me explain. Over the years extensive and thorough scientific research studies have been carried out all over the world to try and determine if it’s possible to predict a persons maximum natural height based upon a number of factors including their grandparents heights. The results of these studies have told us that according to the human height calculator, the average height of a given male is the equivalent to the average heights of his grandparents and biological parents, which is then multiplied by a factor of 1.08 to give the answer.

Although studies have also highlighted that 95 out of the 100 males maximum natural height prediction is below the sum of their natural height plus three and a half inches. The human height calculator also applies to females too. It shows that in the cases of women, the average height of a female is shown by the average height of their parents plus grandparents, which is then multiplied by a factor of 0.92 to get the answer. This figure will show most females natural height quite accurately. Once again, studies show that 95 out of the 100 women’s maximum natural height prediction is below the sum of their natural height plus two and a half inches.

So now I bet you’re wondering if the human height calculator can work for you right now?
Well give it a go and find out. To find out your maximum natural height you will need to know the average heights of your parents and grandparents, then use the formula shown below to work out your answer.
Your father’s height = F cm (inches)
Your mother’s height = M cm (inches)
Your father’s father’s height = FF cm (inches)
Your father’s mother’s height = FM cm (inches)
Your mother’s father’s height = MF cm (inches)
Your mother’s mother’s height = MM cm (inches)

If you are a male, with 95% certainty,
Your Maximum Natural Height in cm (inches)
= (F + M + FF + FM + MF + MM) / 6 * 1.08 + 8.8 cm (3.5 inches)
If you are a male, with 99% certainty,
Your Maximum Natural Height in cm (inches)
= (F + M + FF + FM + MF + MM) / 6 * 1.08 + 14 cm (5.5 inches)

If you are a female, with 95% certainty,
Your Maximum Natural Height in cm (inches)
= (F + M + FF + FM + MF + MM) / 6 * 0.92 + 6.4 cm (2.5 inches)

If you are a female, with 99% certainty,
Your Maximum Natural Height in cm (inches)
= (F + M + FF + FM + MF + MM) / 6 * 0.92 + 11.4 cm (4.5 inches)

The average height for women calculator & how it compares your height with the average female height

Women have always been obsessed with height and most wanting at least an average female height for their ethnicity. An above average height has always been viewed positively and is seen as beneficial in many ways such as in sports, working life and general cardio vascular health. While there is little to no evidence to suggest the correlation between height and success in life, there is no doubt that Height extremes of either excessive height or shortness can lead to social exclusion and discrimination for women in many parts of the world. It is a well known fact that human height is a factor of both genetics as well as nutrition. Other factors that have a bearing on height are the standard of living, diseases & conditions faced by the body, poverty, and genetic make-up of the body. The average female height is often ranged in a narrow band when compared with female heights of individuals from the same ethnic background have similar living conditions. The average height for women has always been found to be less than the average male height across all ethnic groups and countries, which is a genetic factor that is prevalent across all human beings. Another interesting fact is that the full height for women occurs at an earlier age than that for men, which is basically because women reach puberty before men. The average height for women is the highest in the Netherlands in China and other Asian countries. The average height for women calculator is a handy tool to quickly compare your height with other females from the same or different ethnicity. This height calculator makes use of historical information related to female average height and has been to be very accurate for most people.

Bone Development and Structure Because bone is made up of minerals and is hard, many people think that it is not living material. But a bone in a living animal consists of both living tissue and non-living substances. Within the “alive bone” are blood vessels, nerves, collagen, and living cells including: osteoblasts (cells that help form bone), and osteoclasts (cells that help eat away old bone). In addition, bone contains cells called osteocytes, which are mature osteoblasts that have ended their bone-forming careers. These cells engage in metabolic exchange with the blood that flows through the bones. The nonliving, but very important, substances in bone are the minerals and salts. Besides the metabolically active cellular portion of bone tissue, bone is also made up of a matrix (a bonding of multiple fibers and chemicals) of different materials, including primarily collagen fibers and crystalline salts. The crystalline salts deposited in the matrix of bone are composed principally of calcium and phosphate, which are combined to form hydroxyapatite crystals. As you can see, the chemical formula for hydroxyapatite crystals includes molecules of calcium (Ca), phosphate (PO4), and hydroxide (OH):

How To Increase Height Naturally Via Stretching Exercises

In Exercises

Our society places a great deal of importance on height. If you are of a smaller stature, you have undoubtedly felt that you have an unfair disadvantage. However, you have the ability to overcome this challenge and make your body grow. While there are always artificial means, you have probably wondered how to increase height naturally. The answer is a good grow taller exercise regiment, especially one that includes a stretching program designed to increase height. People who know how to increase height naturally know is the complex hormone that triggers your bones, muscles, and tissue to increase in size. The better your workout, the more HGH will be in your system. Furthermore, exercise strengthens your body to support it as the bones and cartilage lengthen. that exercise is crucial if you want to improve your body. When you exercise, your body releases Human Growth Hormone, or HGH, into your system. This is the complex hormone that triggers your bones, muscles, and tissue to increase in size. The better your workout, the more HGH will be in your system. Furthermore, exercise strengthens your body to support it as the bones and cartilage lengthen. Although most workouts will help your body grow in some way, stretching exercises are one of the most effective and natural ways to increase height. Stretching is an efficient way to exercise because it focuses on the parts of your body that you want to grow. The bulk of your height comes from your spine and legs. The bones in these areas are held together by cartilage. Stretching helps you decompress the cartilage in these body parts, such as between your vertebrae and thigh bones. As this cartilage decompresses it soaks up nutrients and thickens, making you taller. On the other hand, not stretching stunts your growth because it weakens your cartilage and reduces the flexibility needed to grow. It is very important that you develop a solid stretching routine. This means you have must discipline yourself to stretch regularly. You must also stretch long enough so that your workout is effective. The following is a description of three specially designed stretches that are fantastic ways to increase height naturally. Most importantly, you need to do the right stretches with the right techniques. This article will guide you through certain stretching techniques that will give you the optimum results. Standing Forward Bend – This is a very simple, but effective, exercise. It is a great way to relax and decompress your spine.

Also, it stretches your calves, hamstrings, hips, neck, and all of your back support. To begin this exercise, stand with your feet approximately 18 inches apart and your palms on the back of your thighs. Then slide your hands down along the side of your legs without bending your knees. Try to slide as far as possible, as you bend over make sure your hands stay firmly on your legs. As you bend you will find the resistance increase in your knees, but do not bend them. Another variation is to slowly run your palms down the back of your legs, forcing you to arch backwards. Downward Facing Dog – Also known as Adho Mukha Svanasana, this yoga-based maneuver is one of the great ways to increase height through stretching and increase your body’s flexibility. You will want to begin this exercise by getting down on your hands and knees. Your legs should be shoulder width apart and your fingers straight forward.

Position your elbows so that your inner arm is pointing away from you. Take a deep breath and curl your toes as if you were trying to stand on your toes. Then straighten your legs as you exhale and push your arms upward. Ideally, you want to push so that your spine is lengthening. Make sure your legs stay straight and your feet firmly on the floor. If you need to bend your legs at first, that is okay. However, you will want to stretch yourself further and further each time until your legs stay straight. Also, keep your shoulders flat and distribute your weight evenly to add the resistance on your spine. You should remain in that position for several deep breaths and then repeat the entire movement several more times. Head to Knee – The Janu Shirshasana position, as it is called in yoga, is a fantastic way to decompress your spine and stretch your hamstrings. Just like the downward dog stretch, you want to make sure your spine stays straight to get the full benefit of the exercise.

Keeping your spine straight while exercising is one of the best ways to increase height. Also, remember to breathe deeply and fluidly throughout your maneuvers because it will also help decompress your spine.Begin this exercise by sitting on the floor with your legs fully extended in front of you. Bend one leg by pulling your heel as close to your body as possible, in a “P” shape, but keeping your buttocks planted on the floor. You should rotate your body so that you are facing the extended leg and raise your arms over your head while you inhale. Keep your back straight as you bend forward slowly and exhale. Do not bend at your hips, but by rolling forward on your buttocks. Tense your thigh muscles as you bend, this will release the hamstring and promote better flexibility. At the end of your forward momentum, gently lower your arms to grab your foot and pull forward. Then, pull your opposite leg into the “P” shape and extend the leg that was previously bent.  Repeat the exercise for the opposite side of your body. Keep your pace slow and breathe deeply throughout the exercise to fully stretch out your spine. Whether you are doing a simple standing forward bend or the more aggressive Janu Shirshasana, stretching exercises will help decompress your spine and promote your body’s flexibility.

Effective Stretching Exercises
To Increase Height

In Exercises

If you are one of those people who is worried by your size and always looking for a way to increase your height help is finally here! One of the most effective means to increase your height is through a carefully carried out height increase exercises program which is designed to strengthen core muscles, improve posture and also encourage your body to increase the levels of growth hormone it releases in to your blood stream. It is a well proven fact that exercises of high intensity such as anaerobic activities like cycling, sprinting or swimming can have a huge impact on your body’s production of growth hormones. Another significantly better grow taller exercise for you to carry out which will also produce results is stretching and this is what we are going to focus on in this article. The primary aim of a stretching program is to mimic the conditions that are seen in other resistance based exercises such as weight lifting and resistance training. The effect of this is stronger back and abdominal muscles.
Why is this a positive thing?
Well quite simply put stronger muscles reduce the compression of invertebral discs. This has the effect of thickening cartilage in your spinal column thereby lengthening the spinal column and increasing your height naturally. A good program should include a variety of exercises that will move your body through a full range of motion.  This helps your body become more flexible and makes the bone and cartilage more receptive to growth.  This article will provide you with the basics of three stretching exercises to increase height that will strengthen and lengthen your body.  These following three grow taller exercises are very effective and should be an important part of your exercise program.
Hanging – One of the biggest obstacles to growing taller is gravity.  You spend most of your day in an upright, vertical position.  All day long gravity compresses your spine and joints, which squeezes and thins the cartilage and makes you shorter.

However, it is easy to counteract this affect through a simple hanging exercise because it lets the weight of your lower torso stretch your spine and reduce the tension between your vertebrae.  In fact, hanging has been known to increase a person’s height by one to two inches. You will want to have a horizontal bar that is high enough so that your body can fully extend.  If your body cannot fully extend, then bend your knees slightly until you hang freely.  When you grasp the bar, make sure your palms are facing away from you and your thumbs are almost touching. While you are hanging, try to keep your arms, shoulders, and hips are relaxed as possible.  This helps gravity pull on your body even further.  Try to hang for at least 20 seconds and repeat the process when you are able to grip the bar again.  You should also repeat this exercise a minimum of three times.  Also, if you wear ankle weights while hanging you will get an increased benefit.
Dry Land Swim –
Also known as the Alternate Leg Kick, this exercise focuses on your lower back.  You will want to start this exercise by laying down flat on your stomach with your body fully extended.

Put your arms straight out in front of you with your palms toward the floor.  Raise your left arm higher than your right arm. Then, keep your legs straight and lift your right leg off the ground as far as you can.  Try to hold that position for at least 4 seconds before gently lowering your leg and raising the other leg.  Your goal should be to work up to holding the position for 20 seconds.  Also, adding wrist and ankle weights to your workout  will increase resistance and tone your lower back muscles even more.
Pelvic Shift – This exercise is a favourite of fitness instructors all over.  It is simple, but you will quickly feel the stretching that occurs up and down your spine and in your hips.

You will want to begin the exercise by lying on your back with your shoulders and arms planted firmly on the floor.  Bend your knees and draw your feet as close to your buttock as you can.  Next, arch your back so that your pelvis thrusts upward. Hold this position for at least 20 seconds and try to work up to holding it for 30 seconds.  As you repeat this move, you should feel more and more stretching in your front hips. It is always a good idea to check with your doctor before beginning any exercise regiment to make sure your body is healthy enough for this activity. Strenuous exercises, like these grow taller exercises to increase height, should be done consistently but you should start slowly if you are a beginner.  You can increase the intensity of your workout as your body becomes accustomed to each new exercise. When you develop a disciplined grow taller exercise program, you will help you body raise and sustain the levels of growth hormone in your body.  Therefore, the more effectively and regularly you exercise the better your chance to increase your height.

How to Become Taller Naturally
3 Back Exercises

In Exercises

If you have been looking for ways to become taller, then you probably already know how important exercise is. However, it is important that your exercises focus on the parts of your body that have the most potential to grow. Furthermore, you must carefully plan and perform the better grow taller exercises which give those body parts more of what they need to grow. Your back is quite literally the foundation on which your body is built. Your back, more specifically your spinal column, allows you to hold yourself upright and supports all of your activity. Your back is a complex structure that makes up for a substantial portion of your overall height. Therefore, the health of your back and spine can have the most impact on your current and potential height. Your spine basically consists of three components. Your vertebrae are the 33 sections of bone in your spine. Your vertebrae essentially stop growing after adolescence, so it is important that we focus on the two other components of your spine, the muscles and cartilage, which have the most potential to grow. In between your vertebrae are intervertebral discs made of cartilage that act as shock absorbers for the vertebrae and gives your spine flexibility. Your activity and tension during the day can grind down the cartilage, squeezing nutrients out of the discs and compressing them. On the other hand, when you stretch out your spine you give your cartilage the opportunity to soak up fluid from your system and thicken. This thickening makes you taller. The muscles in your back maintain your posture, the curve of your spine, and support movement. If your back muscles are weak it can lead to poor posture. If you have poor posture that you are greatly hurting your efforts to become taller. First, people with poor posture normally appear several inches shorter than they actually are. Secondly, poor posture puts more pressure on your spine’s cartilage and compresses the intervertebral discs. If you want to know how to become taller naturally, then you must learn how to exercise your back so that it prevents this compression and promotes good posture. The muscles that support your spine must be strengthened to resist the daily strain which compresses your spine. Also, your spine itself must be stretched to the full extent to make it more flexible which accelerates the regeneration and thickening of the cartilage. There are many exercises that will help your back become stronger. However, this article will teach you three exercises that will give you optimum results. Double Forward Bend – The Double Forward Bend puts resistance on both your back and your hamstrings. This pressure pulls your spine, which stretches your entire spinal column and accelerates decompression which is how to become taller naturally.

Start by sitting on the floor with your legs stretched out in front of you and your hands on your hips. Stretch your arms out in front of you and bend forward as you try to touch your toes. Although you may not be able to touch your toes at first, doing this stretch regularly will make your body more flexible and you will soon find that you can easily grab your toes. This increased flexibility is a major step to becoming taller . You will want to repeat this move 5 times using both hands. Next, spread your feet apart a few inches and then stretch by alternating one hand at a time, touching your right foot with your left hand and your left foot with your right hand. You should also repeat this stretch with each hand at least 5 times. Backward Bend – The Backward Bend, also known as the Roll Over Stretch, is one of the better exercises to become taller. This exercise forces your spine to reach a maximum curvature which frees the cartilage to begin thickening and helping you become taller fast.

To begin this move, find a firm surface and lay flat on your back with your arms extended towards your feet and palms on the floor. Keep your feet together as you raise your legs over your head. Your goal is to have your toes touch the floor behind your head. Push off the floor with your palms to give you the power to lift your legs over your head and raise your hips off the floor. You may not be able to touch the floor at first, but you should work toward that goal without over-exerting yourself. After your toes touch the ground, or have reached as far as possible, then bring your legs back to your starting position in a gentle, controlled manner. You should repeat this exercise at least 5 times. The Cobra – This next exercise, called the Cobra or Bhujangasana, is a two stage exercise that stretches your spine but also tones the essential support muscles in your back and arms. In the first stage of this exercise, lay on your stomach with your legs together. Your arms should be close to your sides and your hands by your chest.

Slowly arch your back so that you head and chest are raised as high as they will go, with your heart and chest pushed outward. Make sure to keep your buttock muscles tense to protect your lower back. Take several deep breaths and then gently lower yourself back into your starting position. You should repeat this step as much as you need to prepare for the next stage. In the next stage, do this movement again but when your head reaches its peak height raise yourself up onto your arms which will increase the stretching in your back. You should stretch as far as you can without discomfort, but make sure you keep your pelvis on the floor. Once again, take several deep breaths and then slowly come back down to your starting position before repeating the movement. Because your spine is such a major factor in your height and activity, it is important that you keep it healthy. It is always a good idea to check with your physician before you begin any exercise program, including back exercises. Once you have been cleared for this type of workout, make sure you perform back exercises, like these three, that will best benefit your spine and help you become taller.

How To Gain Height Naturally Through Yoga
3 Yoga Exercises

In Exercises

For centuries people have used the techniques of yoga to improve their body and overall well-being. Yoga stretches your entire body, and especially your spine, and gives it the balance and strength it needs to grow. If you are someone who is wondering how to gain height naturally, you should consider an exercise program that involves yoga. Yoga is a series of fluid movements that centers your body. The focus is to create flexibility while controlling your breath. This flexibility and control helps you with gaining height on many levels. Yoga stretches your body, especially your back, through its full range of motion. This helps your body fully decompress from the downward pressure of gravity that causes you to actually shrink. Once your body is relieved of this strain, the cartilage in your back and joints can start to lengthen and thicken which makes you taller. Furthermore, the deep inhalation and focus of yoga helps your body relieve the stress that causes tension in your back muscles. This tension would normally hinder growth, but with these height gain exercises you can overcome it. Additionally, yoga strengthens your spine which improves your posture. If you want to know how to gain height, you should know that it all begins with good posture. People have the ability to get a height gain of several inches just by having the correct posture. A spine which is aligned is then prepared to grow longer. In this article, we will show you how to gain height through three specific yoga exercises. These three vary in degree of difficulty, so that you can start with the grow taller exercise that is best for you. Also, it is important that you always check with your physician before beginning this, or any, exercise plan. Sukhasana – The first exercise is called the Sukhasana and it is the “centered” position from which all other yoga moves originate. It is important that you learn this position because it will help you control your breathing and make you better aware of your body. Furthermore, it tones your lower back and hips, helping the cartilage in those areas to decompress. You will want to sit on the floor in a cross-legged position, your hands resting on your knees.

Focus on controlling your breathing so that it is deep and at an even pace. Keep your spine perfectly aligned and push your buttocks to the floor and gently lower your knees. Take several, at least 5, deep breaths and then inhale as you raise your arms upward and over your head. Bring your arms down gently and steadily, exhaling as you do, and then repeat this entire move 5 to 7 times more. Trikonasana – also called the Triangle, is the second yoga exercise we will discuss. This is slightly more advanced than the Sukhasana. It will help improve your balance and therefore help you have good posture.  Also, it is a very good exercise to use if you want to center yourself and relieve tension.

To begin, stand up with your legs about 3 to 4 feet apart and your feet parallel to one another. Then, rotate your left foot 90 degrees to the left and your right foot 45 degrees inward. Inhale and raise your arms to the side so that they are level and parallel to the floor. Exhale and turn your head to face down the length of your left arm and check that your left knee is lined up with your left ankle. Take one deep breath and then stretch towards your left ankle while you tilt your left hip down. Once you have reached your maximum stretch, rotate your arms so that your left hand can now rest against the inside of your calf and your right arm points towards the ceiling. Turn your head so that you are looking in the direction of your right arm and take several deep breaths. Then, inhale and straighten your body followed by an exhale as you lower your arms to your hips. Pivot on your heels and face forward once more. Then, repeat this movement on the right side of your body .
Dog & Cat – The Dog and Cat movements are very popular exercises because they extend your spine fully in two different directions. This extension will stretch every cartilage disc in your spinal column. While these are typically two separate movements, we are combining them together so that your body can get the maximum flexibility and height gain.

You will begin the exercise on your hands and knees with your hands slightly ahead of your shoulders and knees hip width apart. Inhale and tilt your pelvis up and curve your spine so that your stomach drops towards the ground and your head is up. Fully stretch your body, but gently, and then move into the cat position by reversing the curve of your spine. You should finish with your pelvis down and chest and stomach in. Move your body through this movement fluidly, repeating the full cycle many times.

How to Get Taller Naturally?
3 Ab Exercises To Get Taller

In Exercises

If you want to know how to get taller fast, then you should know that most of the muscles in your body have an impact on your height. Therefore, it is important that you have a well-rounded exercise program that affectively works out each important muscle. This article will teach you about the significance of your abdominal muscles and how a good ab exercise program is one of the major ways to get taller naturally. Strong abdominal muscles help you get taller in two ways. First, it is known that the strength of your abdominal muscles directly corresponds to the strength of the muscles in your lower back. These lower back muscles are critical to good posture. It they are weak, and your abs are weak, you will have poor posture which can actually decrease your height. Also, strong lower back muscles help your spine stay flexible which is a key to growth. Second, working out your abdominal muscles helps you shed extra weight in your abdomen that normally pulls on your back and increases poor posture. In this article, we will focus on three grow taller exercises that target your lower and middle abdominal muscles. It is important that these exercises be incorporated into a larger abs program so that all of your abdominal muscles are strengthened. Remember, if you have strong abdominal muscles then you will also have a strong back.
Lower Ab Crunch – The Lower Ab Crunch focuses on your lower abdominal muscles. It also helps give you better posture in your lower back by strengthening those muscles.

This exercise is a great starting block for an abdominal exercise program aimed at getting taller. You can do this exercise on the floor or on a bench. Lie down flat on your back with your knees bent at a 45 degree angle. Contract your lower abdominal muscles so that your knees are drawn to your chest in a controlled manner. Then, slowly bring your legs back down. Repeat this process for at least 15 times, making sure that you pull your legs with your lower abdominal muscles each time. Make sure your hip flexor has no to minimal movement throughout the exercise.
Leg Raise – The Leg Raise or Hip Up is a great follow up to the Lower Ab Crunch as you do your get taller exercises. It will further strengthen your lower back as it tones the muscles in your abdomen.

While this is a rather uncomplicated exercise, you will quickly feel how effective it is at working out your abdominal and lower back muscles. You can remain on the floor or bench where you just performed the crunching exercise. Extend your legs up so that they are perpendicular to your body. Then raise your hips about 3 to 5 inches off the ground by pushing up with your lower abs. Your feet should always remain straight while you are lifting. Gently lower your hips back to the starting position and then repeat at least 15 times. Side Crunch – The Side Crunch should be the next step in your abs exercise program. There is probably no better exercise to workout the muscles along your rib cage and those at the sides of your abdomen.

If these muscles are toned, then the corresponding muscles in your back will also be toned. You can remain on the floor or bench that you used for the previous two exercises. Lie on your side with your arms holding onto the bench or a heavy object behind you, bend your knees. In a very controlled manner, bring your knees to your chest and then lower them back to the starting position. Rotate to your other side and then repeat the movement. You should repeat this at least 15 times per side. Remember to limit your movement so that your hip flexors remain still, to increase the resistance and toning on your abs. If you want to know how to get taller naturally by exercising your abs, then you should know that you have to exercise all of your ab muscles. These three exercises are a good start to a solid ab exercise program, but you will need to follow up these with exercises which target your upper abs. Furthermore, you need to incorporate aerobic, stretching and other exercises into your program in order to give your body the full workout it needs to grow.
